LOL

I normally do hidden text small, but in this case if people didn't see it they'd get angry, so I did it big. Still didn't work... Even when quoted and the contrast against the background is massive...

Have a look at the first page of this thread, kingpomba posted up the graph of the results. You need to have the overall score, so just divide 175 by 3, and viola. Now look on the graph for OVERALL SCORE (not the sections) and see where you are on the curve, and viola again, you've got your percentile.

I'm pretty sure they work the same as any other school.

As many people get A+'s as there are people who deserve them.

They have predetermined grade ranges for each subject and each SAC as far as im aware. So, (pure example) an A in psychology might be 85-95%, if 50 people get that, 50 A's, if one person gets that 1 A.

Very occasionally, they will actually scale SACs. Our methods calculus SAC this year was a total disaster, half the people who took it failed (as in below 40%) and most people scored way lower than they usually would. The methods teachers got together and decided to scale it a bit. I think it was out of 91, so they wiped off 10 marks and made it out of 81 so more people would pass.

I see, so this confuses me then, don't you rank within the cohort?

Who can I see at Syd that can explain this to me?

You still rank within the cohort, they just sum up your marks and give you a ranking.

I don't know, as you know half the teachers don't even know what they're on about... find a *good* teacher for any subject and they should be able to help you.

Could try pop upstairs to student services but those guys deal with careers more

Wow nice matt, I got complete opposite
100th percentile on section three and like 30th in section two ==

how did you go overall?

lol see the worst thing is.
even though i scored highly in section 2.
all chances of med/pharm are gone due to the section1/3 fking me up lol

I don't think section 2 is weighted very highly, if i referred to the graph I would have gotten a lower percentage if they were weighted equally cause my S2 was forty percentile ( i know thats pathetic)

so yea, i mean its important but they care more about ur intelligence STILL.

Apparently you cant calculate it yourself with 100% accuracy, so i guess it would make the same sense for reverse calculating it. A better idea would to be to look on your umat results paper, it says the percentile there.

I seriously hope they don't weight section 3 equally, its ludicrous.

I know people will argue otherwise but mentally rotating shapes holds less to the practice of medicine than emotional intelligence and logic.
