Religion is never to blame for the inadequacies of the people who 'supposedly' follow them. It is almost impossible these days to define Islam without using the actions of headline grabbing Muslims as support. Islam is very different from what people have portrayed it as. At the time of the Prophet- Mecca was a business center and Jews, Christians and Pagans were living together in the same city. In fact even after Islam spread in Mecca and Medina, the Jews were given refuge in these cities. The rules of engagement in war was laid down even at that time and funnily enough chopping trees, harming wildlife, was strictly banned, in actual war hurting women, children and older men was banned as well. Where are those rules now? NO country- Muslim or non-Muslim has ever brought this into the limelight... Human rights and the rights of non-Muslims are to be strictly observed by Muslims....but sadly that never has been the case. Today Saudia Arabia for all the charity it provides to the poor can be credited- and yet royalty in Islam is NOT allowed! Therefore in reality there is No country that is really Muslim and the majority of Muslims are as far away from Islam than they think.
The same can be said for Christianity. Today the Church is under attack from within- the morality of the priests caught in evil acts has hurt the Church immeasurably. The truth is that the teaching of Jesus has nothing to do with the way priests act. To blame Christianity for a handful of evil doers is wrong. There are many who have spend their lives caring for the dispossessed in society and many who help those in need. The teachings of God should never be measured by those that purport to be the 'followers'.
What has happened in Pakistan is simple- it is a country that is at war with itself and it has a thoroughly corrupt government. Which is bad but then which country doesn't?
Anyway, I would hesitate to lay the blame on Islam, Christianity or Judaism just because the followers of these religions decide to be come immoral. No religion instructs Man to do wrong, it is Man's free will. For the Muslims, it is clear that because we are Muslims- we are told that the punishment for doing wrong is greater for us than for the non-Muslims- since we should have known better.
