Making money from home/online legit?

There's stuff all over the internet saying you can make thousands from home every week... doing surveys and whatnot. Is this some sort of scam? or does it actually exist and how does it work?

There's this website which names and shames scammers and has some other useful info:

Personally, I'd take those "Make money from home" pop-ups/windows with a grain of salt. IMO it's more or less a scam. I don't have any evidence to back-up my claims, just my personal thoughts.

They're mostly pyramid schemes that you should stay far, far away from.

It makes no sense! Aren't you getting money for doing nothing but clicking some surveys? I don't get how anyone else profits from it?

They're mostly pyramid schemes that you should stay far, far away from.

Can you elaborate please?

A pyramid scheme is basically getting 10 people to pay you money to enter into a business. And then the only way they'll make money is by getting 10 people to pay *them* to enter the business. And it all collapses when they reach saturation point and nobody is willing to pay them anymore...

So, take a case example of one of the more popular schemes of today: My Shopping Genie.

The scheme works on a modified version of pyramid scheme called "MLM" which is multi-level marketing. You pay $200 to be allowed to distribute the application. You then pay $30 per month extra for this "privilege". You get a few dollars every time somebody installs the application. And more when somebody signs on to become a distributor. They in turn pay the same amount to get other people to do the same. So on, so on and so forth until there are no more people to suck into the scam and it eventually crumbles in on itself spectacularly.

Most online "work from home" schemes are "PAY ME MONEY! AND I'LL GIVE YOU THE INFORMATION TO MAKE BUNDLES OF YOUR OWN MONEY!" And then sadly, the information you receive from them is to tell other people to pay you money... So you can tell them to get other people to pay them money...

That's pretty much it.

Yeah you do the surveys. And then if yo uwant more money you have to spam all your friends to sign on and do surveys and yo uget a commisison based on how many people yo ucan get to also do surveys.

So yeah. Pyramid scheme :P

Read the pyramid scheme wiki article. It's any scheme that requires you to approach other people to do the scheme to make more money.

Yeah but you'll make like $3 :P Oh and they'll usually have a clause that says you need to make $x (say $150) before you can take the money out and bail

My advice to you is to try it, BUT at the first sign that they want your credit card details or ask your friends to signup... That's the time to bail.
