hey
When you draw a diagram of your results, would you also draw the big circle around it.

How do you identify the variable and control? can the control b betroot and distilled water (where the solution changes)? or does it have to be just beetroot

thanks

I think we've don this prac...so I'm assuming your observations are from a petri dish? If that's the case then yeah you would draw a circle to represent it. Remember to label it though.

The variable is the factor that has changed in an experiment. The variable in this experiment is the solution that the beetroot is put in. The control is the factor that you use as a basis to compare results with, and in this experiment the control is the beetroot in distilled water.

okay so would you draw a big circle around a diagram, that is if you observed the cell through a microscope?

Oh yeah you always draw in the circle to represent the field of view of the microscope. Make sure to state the magnification of the microscope next to the diagram of your observations.

okay for a conclusion in a prac, would you include the steps you took to get the results, and then explain your results? is there anything else you would include in this

In the conclusion you basically just restate your aim, and then say whether or not the aim was acheived. You then go on to talk about what results you got (refer specifically to data from the prac if you can, teachers love this =P) and then explain how these results support your hypothesis, and how they relate to the theory behind the prac.

You can also mention things like possible limitations of the experiment, or even errors that could occur.
