On my playmaker point, I was thinking of a ball-retaining, tempo-dictating, cul-de-sac-evading superstar, like Riquelme (remember him?) or Xaviesta. Neither Silva/Toure or Lampard/Essien, despite their strengths, fit the bill.

As for Man City's title chances........................well, they're improving in terms of team spirit and cohesion, but are still behind the top two on those two counts. And their manager, while competent is often detrimentally hidebound. And, compare their squad with those of the top two, man-for-man and only the most *cough* blinkered of their fans *cough* would argue they're on an equal footing. So I'd put them with Arsenal and hopefully Spurs (whom I've a soft spot for) among the also-rans.

Holding midfielder you mean. Like Toure?

Except that Silva IS a playmaker, and so is Toure, and so is De Jong (to a lesser extent) and then you have our wingers and attacking defenders like Adam Johnson, Kolarov and now Clichy will also fill the same role as Kolarov etc.

So I don't get what you're saying when you say we have no playmakers. We have lots of playmakers, we just don't expect one person to fill that orle :P

Toure is a Centre Defensive player, known as a box to box player. Who wins the balls from defence and distrubutes the balls to the attack. If you are in need of a playmaker you are after somebody like Kaka or Sneijder who can create a goal possesion with one pass.

Interesting you say Sneijder, there's been lots of talk about a swap deal involving Tevez for Sneijder. Silva is our Sneijder at the moment, and while I'll happily admit he's not as great as Sneijder, he's certainly getting the job done, and so is the rest of our midfield. Yes, it's not the greatest aspect of the team, but it's more than enough for now. If it proves to be a significant problem, it will be easily rectified in January.

Not to mention, Nasri is supposed to be joining us by the end of the month according to Mancini, which by British time means we should see Nasri in a city guernsey some time tomorrow morning :P

Oh yeah, I forgot Clichy. He's one player as good as anybody else in his position. Still, I'd so much rather have Utd or Chelsea's centre backs and right-back (age notwithstanding) than City's.

Does anyone know a site that hosts matches after they've been played? Normally if I want to watch the games it's via streaming at 4am :(

http://www.footytube.com carries the highlights of pretty much every match! And wow, did City -DESTROY- Inter. It was truly sublime. Silva showed why he's easily one of the best in the EPL :)
