Come now, you can't play PC games without Steam.

About Steam:

Steam is a digital distribution and communications platform developed by Valve Corporation. It is used to distribute games from small independent developers to larger software houses. Steam also has community features, automated game updates, and in-game voice and chat functionality.

Steam, by Valve (makers of half-life, portal, etc) is an online store as well as in-game client for chat/browser. They usually have sales at their amazing online store where you can pick up games for like $2-5 (I just picked up mass effect) or just cheaper than retail store prices (Portal 2 for $45 compared to $70+ at bigw or what not, amitire?). Great way to play with friends and chat ingame/organize stuff if you don't have a mic (sadly, some gamers are poor  :crazy2:)

It was free for a few days when they rolled out Steam onto Macs, I think, I lynched it then :)
