How is say science at monash different from it's scholar program?

Whats the general opinion about doing double degrees?
I was thinking about doing an Eng/Comm, but I've heard its better to just do a single degree... people say that it would save time and that having both on a resume is useless..
I always thought that doing a double degree like or Eng/Law (with very different fields) would be good as it opens up a lot of opportunities..maybe I'm wrong though...

Without too much detail, it's a more accelerated program for high achieving students, and is fully funded..

I don't see them as a bad idea, yeah you will be at uni longer, but you will come out with two different professions (providing you choose the right subjects and so on).

It probably won't make a difference on your resume if you did engineering//law, as they don't really intersect, but if you had say engineering/management it could be more relevant?

Yep, same with me. If I do Biomed, I wanna do it with another degree in case I don't do well on the GAMSAT/get into any graduate programs. At least I will come out with a degree and a job if all else goes pear-shaped.

My other option is to do aerospace/management (as mentioned above), which would restrict me, but if I like it result in a higher pay rate as well as a higher starting position. But I don't think that managment would suit me, plus the atar for that is like 95 something and it's not at monash!

-Med @ Monash (and i may apply interstate)
-Biomed @ Melbourne

-Commerce @ Monash
-Commerce/Science @ Monash
-Teaching @ no idea (mildly interested in this, but haven't looked into any detail for it)

I personally think that it is easier to get an HD average in your first semester of uni and transfer into a double degree than to perhaps get it from the outset.
 
Like getting an ATAR of 90 and then maintaining an HD average is easier than getting the 98.25 or whatever it is for law. That is my opinion though

I don't really know about that. I found it wasn't really that hard to get a high ATAR score, but doing well at uni is quite stressful and takes a lot of effort. I suppose it depends what you're doing though. I know a lot of other people who did really well in VCE and then find it harder to do well at uni.
