Got a friend who finished her first year in Science enrolling in 7 Science subjects and 1 breadth subject next year. She is trying to keep her options open so that she doesn't have to choose her major until 3rd year(quite common I suspect.)

The subjects she picked are ANAT20006, PHYS20008, BCMB20002, BCMB20005, three 2nd year Maths subjects in the pure maths specialisation including Real Analysis, and French 7.

Would you guys think that the workload in her 2nd year is too much? Should she choose one more breadth subject instead of stacking science subjects to keep her options open? Her first year was pretty standard; 2 chem, 2 biol, 2 maths, 2 french subjects. Any advice/suggestions is helpful. :)

I did all Science subjects and 0 breadths in second year of my Science degree and actually had the best academic performance that year. Nothing wrong with keeping your options open in second year. I did my 2 breadths in 3rd year. In science I think it's crucial to keep options open, especially if undecided on major, because some 3rd year subjects are very specific on pre-requisites.

if I'm undecided on one of my second year, 2nd semester subjects, can I just put in a random subject? Then either decided throughout my first semester, or finalise it on my winter break?

Has anyone done SCIE20001 last semester?

Also, does anyone know when the registration for EDUC10051 opens?

I have notes for all third year MIIM but I'm in Japan right now, so remind me early Jan if you still want them.

I'll definitely take you up on that offer!

hey guys, im doing accounting/finance major (commerce) and was just wondering if i have to do law subjects? like are they necessary for the  accounting accreditation? Im asking this because I failed corporate law and I don’t want to do that awful subject again. Ive tried looking online but cant find a straight forward answer telling me if I need to do bus law, corp law, tax law.
thanks

Is that all I need to do for now? I can just choose my proper subjects in February right?

As long as you've got 8 "subjects" enrolled, i'm pretty sure that's fine (taking into account required credit points for science subjects and breadth subjects) . You can withdraw and replace subjects over the summer holidays no problem. If you have any subjects that have quotas, i'd try to enrol in those as soon as you can.

Take note of these dates too:

Last date to enrol in standard Semester 1 and Year-Long subjects   Friday 13 March

Census date for standard Semester 1 subjects (last date to withdraw without incurring a withdrawn comment and a HECS-HELP/FEE-HELP/Fees liability)   Tuesday 31 March

Thanks to everyone for all the help this year. This thread/forum really contributed positively to my jaffy experience (every single one of my questions were answered so quickly here!) and just seeing you guys talk about your own problems/experiences helped me learn a lot.

I'd like to second this. There's no way I could have been accepted into my postgraduate course without the constant university/subject advice I have received over my undergraduate years.
2012-2014. BSc: Neuroscience. University of Melbourne.
2015-2018. Doctor of Optometry. University of Melbourne.

Unlikely to respond to any PMs these days.

I'm sorry to hear that, asianguy22. In regard to your question, I'm pretty sure you have to do and pass bus law, corp law and tax law in order to meet the accounting professional accreditation requirements.

Yeah. It unfortunately only gets worse as you go up and you start doing the things without clear guidelines (ie scholarly selective, GP etc.)
Maybe it will be better for you since they've had more experience with us :<

Hope your results were good, they threw some curveballs for the MD2/3 OSCEs
