Hi,

So I've been using the online timetable to pre-plan my personal timetable so I'll be ready when registration opens on Monday and i just have a few questions about it.

1. It is advisable to have lectures directly after each other if they are in the same location? e.g  I could schedule a chem 1 and a bio lecture to be 9-10am and then 10-11am because they are at in the same place.(MSD-B117 Theatre - I can't seem to find it on the map. Where exactly is it?)
2. Is 15 mins enough to get to other classes if they are in different locations?
3. Whats is the best way to manage/organise 4 different subjects? It all seems a bit overwhelming (i.e. breaks, no-breaks, morning or afternoon classes)

Anyway, any general tips or advice would be appreciated in regards to timetabling. I just want to make sure I have a good schedule.

1. It's completely upto you. Even if lectures are one after another in different locations you will usually always have time to walk to the lecture theatre. Lectures usually start 5 mins after the scheduled time and finish 5 mins early, giving you 10 minutes to walk to your next lecture (which is plenty)

2. Yes, easily.

3. Depends on the contact hours but I wouldn't put too many breaks on your timetable. I had 1 hour breaks each day between morning an afternoon classes and that was more than enough to eat/relax/kickback/socialise and the lot lol... (some days I had more, it's basically whatever suits you best).

Awesome. Thanks Whynot123.

What website do you go on to pre-plan your timetable?

If you go to each of your subject in the handbook then scroll down to the bottom of the "Dates & Locations" section there is a line that says "Timetable can be viewed here" Click that link. I opened all my subject in a separate table and then figured out a timetable on paper.

MSD refers to the new Architecture Building, I think.

Is that the Melbourne School of Design?

Foundations of Algorithms, been hearing about electrical engineers having to do shit tons of programming!!!! (in the workforce)

Oh nice! I wish I had the available breadth points to do that subject, programming skills would be really handy.

Yeah my relative who is an electrical engineer also said that he does a lot of programming day to day, and very little maths/calculus(strange enough! :P)

If you have your own healthcare card, and you're not under your parents, then you dont need a VPT concession card. But if you are, (From personal experience :(), then you may be fined.

That's pretty harsh usually i just flick my wallet open and they have a quick glance at the expiry date and nothing further so I guess you could use another family member's one and they won't know. Not condoning this but sometimes new HCC comes after your current one expires!  >:(

I don't know if this is the right place to ask this but does anyone know if winter intensives in third year count towards GPA calculations for interviews for med?

Just to confirm, HCC must be under your own name to be eligible for concession.

How long would you say it takes to walk from the Law Building to the Redmond Barry Building?
Pls do not send me a pm about Aspire applications. The process has vastly changed since I applied.

It depends where your interests lie but I prefered Biological Psychology. If I recall, the Developmental Psych exam requires you to write two essays whilst Biological exam only has MCQ (this may have changed since I did the subjects though).
