When did you get notified to take a placement test?
I enrolled in Chinese as my breadth but I never got informed on a placement test or anything at all ahha

If you haven't studied the language previously then you don't need to, as you start with 1. For people who have studied it they take a test to determine what level they should be at.

Contact the student centre if the latter applies to you.

Hey everyone,

Just wondering if O-week is worth attending for 2nd year (biomed) students?  Thanks!

I don't think you'd find it useful because you probably already know most of what they have to tell you.

BUT, you can a ton of freebies so whynot !? :P

Do you have to print the pictures in colour or is black and white fine?
Also, if you have health care card, you won't need a VPT concession card, right?

Thank you! :)

Needs to be colour.
I believe the HCC will act as a concession card, but you might need your own and not a parental one. Not to sure how that works.

If you have your own healthcare card, and you're not under your parents, then you dont need a VPT concession card. But if you are, (From personal experience :(), then you may be fined.

Oh crap I think I stuffed up  :( I enrolled in Physics 1: Fundamentals but I didn't see the: "Students with a score of 30 or more in VCE Unit 3/4 Physics will normally not be permitted to enrol in this subject."

What happens if I scored over 30? :(

If you scored over 30, you shouldn't be allowed to enrol in the subject, you should enrol in physics 1 instead.

Well I enrolled in it in the study planner and it's all sort of done. It's a breadth subject for me also if that changes anything. How do I go about changing it/will unimelb contact me?

You are screwed....joking  ;D You can easily withdraw from your subjects without a penalty until the census date (the end of march). Just go to your study planner and there should be an option to withdraw on the left hand side.

Hi,

So I've been using the online timetable to pre-plan my personal timetable so I'll be ready when registration opens on Monday and i just have a few questions about it.

1. It is advisable to have lectures directly after each other if they are in the same location? e.g  I could schedule a chem 1 and a bio lecture to be 9-10am and then 10-11am because they are at in the same place.(MSD-B117 Theatre - I can't seem to find it on the map. Where exactly is it?)
2. Is 15 mins enough to get to other classes if they are in different locations?
3. Whats is the best way to manage/organise 4 different subjects? It all seems a bit overwhelming (i.e. breaks, no-breaks, morning or afternoon classes)

Anyway, any general tips or advice would be appreciated in regards to timetabling. I just want to make sure I have a good schedule.
