So if you have to work a significant amount it obviously eats up your free time, but that's different to uni. Maybe I'm just a special butterfly, but I never found that I needed to sacrifice events with friends in order to study or work (exceptions being exam crunch periods etc.). You have to be somewhat disciplined in using your study time efficiently, but it wasn't a black hole that sucked the fun out of BBQs on South Lawn or similar.

1st year was the most difficult for me and I felt as if my hair was falling out all the time, but 2nd and 3rd year have been more relaxing for me and I'm able to usually find enough time to de-stress every day.

I'm sure honours/post-grad is going to be another huge emotional jump though.

nah, no minimum but anything less than 3 subjects counts as part time (so no transport concession card :p)

Where can i go for like general course inquiries? ( i do commerce) Student centre where the library is?

also, is it bad if i only do one major (accounting?)
Im sick of doing finance i hate it and been struggling at it for the last 2 years. Im seriously thinking about withdrawing form my finance subject. But that will leave me with 1 major (accounting). Also i feel like my previous struggles have been a waste as i only have 2 more finance subjects to complete for the major.

There's nothing wrong with doing 1 major in Commerce. I know a few people who do a single major, and they really enjoy the fact they get some more space in their degree to explore more breadth subjects and check out some interesting 3rd year electives. And besides, there's no point doing a Finance major if you aren't enjoying it.

is anyone else here doing principles of management?
i think im going to drop it before the census date. every lecture is just an hour and 30 minutes of the lecturer telling stories about their work life and 30 minutes of common sense. it feels like a waste of 12.5 credit points that could be used to learn interesting shit instead of "if a company does not have a plan it will not be succesful, when i was working with x y z..."

Are there any rules or policies about people saving seats at the library for other people? (like putting their bags on vacant seats etc)
I'm pretty sure Brownless had a rule like this but I don't remember if it's the same for other libraries

is each subject 12.5?
Also, like for example, looking at a handbook i got in my first year, it says

Level 3
Commerce:  Minimum 50 points
Breadth: no special requirement
Total minimum: 75

So if i do 3, level 3 accounting subjects,  12.5 x 3 =  37.5 points
what? how am i meant to do another level 3 subject to get the minimum 50?
and how am i meant to find level 3 breadth subjects? wtf?
this uni is messed up bad.

Can somebody give me an insight to some of the residential colleges? I might consider applying for next year if I can get a scholarship or some sort of financial assistance, otherwise I'll have to rent out in postgrad.

If its for a quick toilet break, there's nothing wrong with it. If the person is going to come back in 10 mins, that's ok. Any longer crosses into annoyance/rage territory even if the librarians don't do anything. If you have a group meeting then it's probably best to book one of the project rooms to make sure you aren't just hogging a seat - spots are always in demand!

Use the handbook to search for some 3rd year commerce subjects https://handbook.unimelb.edu.au. Look at 3rd year management electives if you don't like the electives in your major, they generally don't need many prerequisites

Good use of the breadth search from the handbook can help you out here: https://handbook.unimelb.edu.au/faces/htdocs/user/breadth/BreadthSearch.jsp . There's definitely no shortage of 3rd year breadths that require no prerequsites, especially in the social sciences.
