Hey guys if it's not listed anywhere that an exam is a hurdle can I just assume it isn't?

I think it depends on the degree, I know every FBE subject now has a hurdle unlike last year.

did anyone else do the derivatives exam and think it was super easy? except that last question which was impossible lol
I'm gonna make a big call here but it was probably the easiest exam i've done since further maths in year 12

Yeah man wtf. Literally tutorial questions except for that last one (doubt very many people got that one, had no idea).

Financial Accounting Theory was on the 1st and that was also super easy - literally word-for-word questions from the lecture slides.

IDK what's happening this semester, but i'm liking it. It's definitely a good way to close out my undergrad.

Maybe it's to do with the new hurdle rule they implemented. Lecturers setting easier exams so people don't fail?

If it’s not on the assessment tab in the handbook they would have a hard time enforcing a hurdle

Given the reputation DS has I'm willing to bet they didn't want to risk a 20% fail rate and decided to set an easier exam because of that new hurdle rule.

Didn't do derivatives this sem, but something like that brings back memories of last year's intro macro exam. Literally dictionary definitions, folks :')

Maybe that was it, but they scale exams anyway in commerce if too many people fail. I know with corporate finance last semester the lecturer sent out an email saying everyones exam mark got boosted by 10 because wayyyyyy too many people failed it.

Yeah I remember that one - one 3rd of the exam was easy multi choice and another 3rd was literally definitions. By far the easiest exam I've ever done hahahahah

Who knows - an easy exam has both an upside and a downside though. I'll probably do a review of the subject after my final exam, but as Spectroscopy said; very anticlimactic. For the 'hardest subject' in the Finance major, for it to be comparable to intro micro exam in terms of difficulty is pretty funny.

They did the same thing with introductory econometrics last sem too (half the marks were multiple choice/true/false), so that must be it. Also now I'm kind of regretting I didn't take DS this semester given the reputation it has.
