Hey guys, with regards to the extended questions in economics exams worth 10+ marks, is the marking partly subjective? As in, you'll get some marks for indentifing correct principle/equation and/or drawing a diagram showing how some quantity changes, but the rest of the marks will come from your actual explaination, which is more subjective based on how well they think you explain it (I'm thinking similar to VCE English marking?). Or do they actually have a list of things that you need to cover to gain full marks? Thanks!

Hey guys,

Quick question regarding graduation gifts at UoM - so I was thinking of grabbing a graduation bear that says "University of Melbourne" somewhere on the bear for a friend and was browsing Co-op and the Unimelb Graduation store but couldn't find a bear that was Unimelb specific.. here they mention that you can buy bears from GFP Graduations but I don't know what they look like/price and if they have a variety to choose from haha

So was just wondering where's the best place for bears to purchase bears or any other suggestion for grad gifts from Unimelb you'd recommend other than flowers? :)

Melbourne MD offers have come out.

A big congratulations to anyone from here who managed to make it in!
If you were unlucky this time, just remember that even though it does feel terrible at the moment, there are many people studying medicine now who have experienced a setback like this. Have your time, make sure you talk to friends and get the support you need, but at the end of the day, don’t lose hope—it will happen eventually.

2016-20: MD, UniMelb

Thanks! I didn't manage to get a CSP/BMP offer but got a FFP place through guaranteed pathway. Haven't heard back from GEMSAS. Not too sure what to do now. Gonna discuss it with my parents

Completely cooked C3, was super rushed towards the end. If I get 3-4 marks I'll take it.

But I didn't find the Labor Market, DAD/DAS and IS/LM questions too bad, multi-choice was alright too.

Yeah, the IS/LM questions were pretty standard but I accidentally labelled the IS/LM curves the wrong way around.........only realized it the night after the exam.
I chose to do C2 and it became near impossible mid way through the question lol

Don't know if anyone else here did FoEN this semester but that exam was bullshit. Has anyone else had experiences with complaining to the University about unfair exams and circumstances?

Damn, what happened?

Basically half way through the semester, our lecturer had a medical emergency so he had to go to hospital (he's all good now), but he was unable to lecture for the rest of the semester -we haven't seen him since early September I think. However we had some fill-ins and we managed alright.

So gets around to SWOTVAC and he's uploaded exams for the subject since 2009, they're all pretty much similar in difficulty and style so me and my friends were feeling pretty confident going in.

In the exam itself, it was clear that it wasn't the original lecturer who wrote this exam.  The question style was completely different, things that were barely skimmed over in lectures were weighted heavily, things that throughout the past 8 years would ALWAYS appear didn't pop up.

I'm fairly sure that some questions in the course weren't even supposed to be there - ESD2 wasn't supposed to be a pre-req for FoEN, but there were ESD2 questions in this FoEN exam and so many people in my cohort (who didn't do ESD2) literally could not answer the question because the material wasn't covered in class.

While they may could argue *all content is examinable yadda yadda* it's so unfair that we were set an exam by another lecturer that didn't bother to look over what is normally emphasized or what we were taught. All that study was for nothing.

Would someone be able to link me to the preliminary timetable? I've heard it's out but I can't seem to find it. Thanks!

Just change the subject code in the link to the subject you want to check.
