So how do the breadth subjects which are only offered in february and july work? Does the subject only run for 1 month? If so is it really intense?

The subjects from the Faculty of Economics and Commerce in the period January-February are usually taught at around three times the pace.  The intensity will depend on the subject.  For example, for Finance 1, when I did it, I still felt it was very easy and manageable.  But when Business Finance came around, I felt I was overwhelmed.

Calculus 1 lectures/tutes are hilariously boring, definitely not doing Calc 2 in second semester. Does anyone have a recommendation for a second-semester earth sciences/environmental sciences/chemistry/biology subject I can take that doesn't have any prerequisites or prereqs of first semester Bio and/or Chem?
VCE: Chemistry | Biology (2011) | English (2011) | Environmental Science | Mathematical Methods CAS

Try Understanding Planet Earth (ERTH10002) or Biology of Australian Flora and Fauna (BIOL10001). I haven't done either, but I've heard Flora and Fauna is pretty light and UPE is lectured well (but it has 3 hour pracs each week)

are we allowed to use techniques not explicitly mentioned in calc 2 lecture notes in our assignments..?
e.g. instead of direct comparison test, the limit comparison test?

Not sure but wouldn't it be better to just go with what we've learnt? I used the comparison test for Q4, worked fine for me I think  ::)

What are some of the best places to get computers to use? The Bailleu Library first floor is pretty crowded.

Are our assignments marked by our tutor or by a random teacher?

Silly question here but I've forgotten the name of my tutor. Is there a way I can look up his name?

This will show you where computers are free in any library!  So you can like, look up where most are available.
But additionally there are some other places with computers like the Chemistry learning lab area has some computers if I recall correctly and other random places like level 3? of the Med building?

Depending on the subject it can run for 4 weeks or 6 weeks. I did 2 subjects during summer and one was for 4 weeks the other for 6 weeks.
Initially I thought it would be doable with consistent study, but IT IS A STRUGGLE! I don't recommend doing 2 units at all - if you're repeating it then it shouldn't be too bad. For me, I was learning 1 subject 3 times the pace of a normal semester and the other 2 times the pace. It was just information overload. You didn't have enough time to process everything with 2 subjects. If you're only doing one then it's more than manageable. I had assignments due every few days, a mid semester test as well. Very hard to keep up imo.
I had to go into uni everyday for it. Travel time was a killer 4 hours on average, so had to make sure I was a little productive on the train!
Since everything is going so quickly, before you know it the exams will be the next week! And a 6 week subject you won't have Swotvac, but for a 4 week subject you get a week off in the middle of the semester and you get a week off for Swotvac.
So YES, it is very very very intense! But very much worthwhile if you can pull it off. I ended up with 2 H2Bs very happy with that considering my circumstances :)
