Doing the organic chem problem set from the back of the Chemistry 2 tute book for practice and being confronted with strange questions that assume I'm far better at chemistry than I ought to be :(
Can someone else look at question 4, please? D:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/8ljze044thyjjt9/IMAG2014.jpg is what I have so far :s

Hey Levi!
The Chemistry Appendix questions for OChem are bloody hard and I swear some of it we didn't learn... :/
Esp the stuff like that and stuff like separating organic compounds? O_O
But for that question I think you're on the right track in terms of answering it like Q3, however when I look at the answer to the solutions "C7H15COOH could be separated from benzene by selective extraction into aqueous NaHCO3 solution as its anion. The acid could be recovered by neutralisation of the basic extract with HCl".
I don't remember learning this at all... and the 2009 exam I did was much different from this so don't worry!

BSc (2015), MD1 (2016)
Tutoring in 2016: http://www.tutorfinder.com.au/tutors/detail.php?TutorID=78301
Chuck a PM if interested :)

Available for tutoring on the summer holidays for university subjects or VCe.
Also tutoring for the Melbourne uni MMIs (medical/physiotherapy interviews)

Please don't PM me for lecture slides or recordings. I don't have them anymore.

My prime study period is like 12pm to 5am and it's all too tempting to live in that schedule during swotvac.
As you can see I've woken up an hour earlier today AND ATTEMPTING TO PROGRESSIVELY until my first exam on the 4th otherwise I will be screwed because it's at 9am.
I can't work between the hours of like 7am and 10am which means my 8:30am exam will be awesome.

Done with enrolling project!!!
For first semester I enrolled in principle of microbio and immu , principle of of human structure, biochem and breadth is an ecological history of humanity.
Plan is to take only 2 subject in second semester (which are the other second year micro and human physiology) so I can study for GAMSAT.

Feel free to tell me my plan is so bad and I should change it  :P

See you in PHYS in Semester 2 :)
I don't think you need so much time to study for Gamsat and the 3 months over summer should be heaps. You would be better off doing 3/3 next year IMHO. But each to their own :)

Yeah I reckon 3/3 would be better and personally I would never make myself part-time.
You lose a lot of benefits...which you may or may not receive so it might not be a consideration for you.  But for instance: student concession, youth allowance etc.

That's a good thing for you and an awful thing for me.

Belated thanks, Sashimi :)
I haven't started exams yet because I still need to revise all of Paul and Michelle's (kinetics only) stuff, so I haven't seen much of the exam structure yet  ::)
I'm sort of glad that other people found those questions hard (maybe that's a bit mean, I don't want other people to be struggling!).

(also simpak 2am exams would be fantastic)

When's the most inconvenient time to sign a lease?
Probably now...

Probably now...

Now isn't awesome because of exams , but right after exams is a good time (Nov/Dec).

The absolute worst time to be looking for a place is Jan/Feb so it's worth the hassle of organising it now if you have the opportunity rather than waiting.

Four weeks of lectures, copious amounts of lecture slides, 66 pages of written notes, all given practice questions and one rather unwieldy "summary of the summary" poster later and I -still- don't remember all my organic chemistry :(
