What is the Dean's honours list for undergrad engineering? Is it seperate from the Dean's list you're all talking about?
http://www.eng.unimelb.edu.au/about/deans-honours/
How would they know which students are doing an engineering major?
Given that it's from 2012 it's probably the Dean's List for the old B.Eng. There wouldn't be a specific undergrad Eng DL now, it'd just be the top 3% of science students, whether or not that includes engineering students.

Sigh. Looks like I'm going to have to pack in doing the MD prerequisites and do more "practical" and "useful" subjects to keep my options open. I know I'm not going to do medicine... So the prerequisites are a 'waste'...
I just really enjoy Physiology and Biochem etc...
Depressing :-( And I've been studying already and everything!

At least keep Biochem; it opens up a large number of other potential subjects for you, and some (like Evolutionary Genomics and Bioinformatics) seem pretty relevant to a bioengineering future!

It will depend on the subject. If you're unsure or can't find information in the handbook, email the subject coordinator!

Hey sweet kitties, has anyone taken Comparative Nutrition and Digestion? I've been trying to find reviews of it and material from it desperately. I can't decide between Animal Physio and and Comp Nutrition.

On an uplifting note

Quote
a) 25 points of subjects with the lowest results in the earliest 200 points of these identified 300 points
should be dropped from consideration.

g) Where an applicant has studied at one or more institutions other than the University of Melbourne
(including through cross-institutional study or exchange programs), results should be translated into the
Melbourne grading scheme using the same process followed by the Graduate Research Scholarships
Committee before calculating the SGPA.

omg I actually still have a 7.0 GPA

I cannot wait to ruin it in second year

Yes! n_n I have room to bomb one subject. This means I don't need to attend lectures this year, yes, party at  Hancock's house everyone's invited

I am 100% unbiased in saying you should do Comparative Animal Physiology yep yep yep yep yep mhm
Also that means I CAN FORGET MY CALCULUS 1 MARK FOREVER 7.0 GPA HOORAY (it might be irrelevant for my chosen grad course but I can impress my American friends with it)

Waaaaait what? How many subjects don't count towards the GPA? So that means I could get away with stuffing up Bio this year...or breadths? How much leeway do we get hahahaha

Two. But most graduate courses use WAM and not GPA; GPA is calculated only for certain course entries or for universities that require a GPA. It's still cool to be able to tell American college students you have a perfect GPA, but otherwise your average is what's important for the majority of graduate degrees/your transcript. An example of a course that actually uses GPA is the MD.

BTW guys, I'm fairly certain that this is called the SGPA and it only used for internal admissions. If you delete marks from your GPA and an employer notices, they won't look at it too fondly.
