Hahaha, nice one slu001.
I got my APA offer on the 17th, PhD course offer on the 19th and then upgraded to another scholarship that isn't the APA on the 24th (good christmas present!)
I know some people still have unassessed in their portal for their applications, though...people that tended to have borderline or 'just missed out' scholarship averages.

Not too worried anyway. I have a grad position lined up; and was only ever going to defer it if i got an offer. More of a backup plan if i somehow manage to get fired within the 1st year. (Which knowing me, is very possible -.-")

Gl all with your future honours thesis.

Wow those are some pretty awesome offers lined up. Congratulations. :)

I'm thinking about honours after my Bcom, would you know what the cutoff average was for econ this year? I heard it's generally 85+ across the 3rd year subjects

Not for econ. On a good yr (ie. big number of applicants); an 80 ish average will get you into econ honours. Last yr, it was only mid 70s (according to the econ honours coordinator); probably because May (macro lecturer) made the exam so damn difficult and marked it v. Harshly (imo).

For finance...yes. You will probably need mid 80s for a place.

Realistically what are the chances that I'll get into Biomedicine with my ATAR of 97.10 and Access Melbourne (underrepresented school only)?
ATAR: 97.10

Hard to say, given that you are only eligible for the underrepresented schools category. It really depends on your individual circumstances and the number of students who have applied for a CSP in Biomed. Historically, however, a significant proportion of Access Melbourne applicants are admitted with ATARs below the Clearly-In Rank so you might just sneak in. Fingers crossed!

Has anyone done immuno as a major? I've heard it's notoriously hard but was wondering whether it's impossible or difficult to do well in. Is the main issue that there is a lot of rote learning involved?

Thanks! :)

I had a lot of fun doing it but there is a lot of rote learning involved. It's mostly stuff that makes sense and you can learn via understanding though, so don't let that scare you off!

It's the best major ever!  But yeah, there's a lot of rote learning and it's pretty challenging.  There's also repetition though - for instance, the immuno subject in second semester just builds on that from first, so you end up covering the same stuff twice and then adding to it, which is a bit helpful when you're taking other high rote-learn subjects like Virology.

If you're going into second year or whatever, and you're interested, just take the second year subject and see how you go with the level of rote learning in that and whether you enjoy it to keep the option open. It's only one subject that you'll need to take, so it doesn't impact on your other options as severely as some other major prereqs.

Is Virology more heavy than Bacteriology and Principles of Immunology? I kinda wanted to do it alongside my Frontiers in Biomed, Techniques of Immuno and Med/Applied immuno but I'm not sure if I can juggle it all with med applications too.

Virology is more heavy than Bacteriology and probably on par with Principles of Immuno.  It's a really good subject though.  The heaviness of it comes from the rote learning rather than requirement for understanding.  I think it is not too hard to get a H1 in, although it may be hard to get 90+ because of the memorisation of detail required.  That said, it was the highest score I achieved in undergrad.

Edit:  as an aside, because you take it with Med/Applied I think it is definitely manageable (in relation to what I said previously about Med/Applied).  I took Virol with plenty of Biomed friends that were also taking Med/Applied in addition to Techniques in MIIM at the time (and then the Biomed subject), and they all got into Med at Melb and kept their provisional offers.  Most got a H1 in Virol too, with one friend getting an unfortunate 79. I think that because by the time you take Virol, your GPA is 'less important' so to speak, fear of dropping a few points should not keep you from doing the subject, because you will only need a good enough GPA to progress with your already provisional offer by that point anyway.  I should probably also mention that Virology was the subject I was most behind in throughout the semester, but it kind of lends itself to a massive cram.  J Mackenzie is worth it as a lecturer, too.

SPEAKING OF RESULTS, we just got ours.  When were we meant to get them?  November 20.  And isn't everyone supposed to be on holidays now?  Wow.
