What happens if I don't pay my outstanding library fine...?

A SWAT team will barge into your house around midnight and imprison you until you pay the fine.

But seriously - if it's under a certain amount (I think $25) you don't have to pay it. If it's over that amount, if you don't pay it the university will without results or prevent your graduation.

That being said it's impossible to understand most lecturers if you set the speed over 2.0x

Just imagined a certain RA lecturer at 2.0x and started hyperventilating...

Lecturer did set a hard exam last year but it was then scaled so it doesn't impact you too much.

Scaling doesn't always even it out completely I think though. First semester last year, busfi had 10% over 85%. In second semester last year, it was 5% following a very difficult exam. Sure it was scaled up a bit for sure, but when there are approximately 1000 students enrolled each semester, to me that is a very significant difference and I don't see how the cohorts would be so different.

Yep it's fine to do qm1 and ifa to get into business finance. That said, if you want to major in finance it is probably good to get an introduction to it in first year? That way if you absolutely hate it you will still have all your options open. There are also second year finance subjects that you can enter with either business finance or finance 1 as a prereq, so which pathway you decide will affect the subjects you can do later on (but busfi alone will get you into enough 3rd year subjects for the major).

For what it's worth, I didn't do finance 1 and didn't feel disadvantaged in business finance seeing as it's taught from scratch. However I had covered all the financial maths stuff in other subjects so I'm not sure what the pace feels like if you haven't seen it before.

So is the financial math in Business Finance assumed knowledge or do they spend time teaching it? :o

If it's over that amount, if you don't pay it the university will withhold results or prevent your graduation.

Do they actually though?? ._.

Yes..?
You get a notification telling you that you're to pay by X date or you'll have your graduation ceremony deferred.

Yeah it is taught from scratch, there's no assumed knowledge from finance 1. I just can't attest to whether they go through it more quickly or not compared to finance 1. Many students don't take finance 1 - so with regards to content you're fine either way. Taking it would have some overlap and help you when you're studying busfi though, and later down the track if you continue with a finance major.
