As advised by previous BIOM20002 students, I'd be interested in acquiring any recent PHYS20008 lecture capture series. Shout out if you're in possession of anything. :)

So I've enrolled into classes for BIOL10001 Biology of Flora and Fauna but I'm having second thoughts about it. I'm not sure whether I should do this or calc 2.. I was told that it's recommended I do 2 maths subjects in first year but I'm not sure why. What second year subjects are open to me if I do choose calc 2 and what majors need it? I'm still not sure about what I want to major in so I'm trying to keep my options open. Any input would be great.

Is definitely a must. Only the sweet, sweet voice of Charles Sevigny can revive the slow death of your soul that physiology in BIOM20002 will cause... Not to mention that he is the funniest and best lecturer ever  ;D

Many 2nd year engineering subjects / subjects that lead to an engineering major will require either, or both of

  • 25 points in maths
  • Calculus 2 + Linear Algebra

Where some subjects with a Linear Algebra requirement will allow you to do it concurrently with the subject

Also many have ESD2 as a requirement, but that's not a math subject

Some of my friends use this: http://www.bsc.unimelb.edu.au/majors to check prerequisites and look at the different areas of science. However, be careful about what subjects are core prerequisites and which ones are recommended as electives.

Edit: I should probably say that I'm not entirely sure if the above link is accurate, so double check with the handbook always.

can confirm, that's the old computing and software systems major which they changed for this year to a slightly different structure
