There's no reason to sticky it, since it's a chat thread and will be at the top if it's being used (and almost always is)

Incidentally, the New Student thread is fairly dated. If somebody wants to rewrite it and update it, I'm happy to stick yours.

It's not that bad. The FAQ could probably be expanded a bit, and some of it's a bit outdated (e.g. the bits on the student union - everyone's a member now.) The only real flaw is that it's a bit too specific to science/biomed.

There's too much emphasis on free stuff. I don't think I got anything useful out of o-week, honestly. Not even a pen. Vic uni would have given me pens. (is it too late to reconsider? ;))

Am I the only one who cant wait for sem 2 to start? Slowest 5 weeks of my life... :|

Sounds like you need a hobby!
I'm looking forward to learning again but there's never enough time off to do the fun stuff... especially when the weather has been as bad as it has.

Also I'm pretty sure they no longer refer to the database system as ISIS ;)

With respect to PHYS20008, in all honesty, much of the "heavy lifting" comes from the pre-readings. Sure Charles is humorous and engaging, but the reason why the lectures work so well rests upon the readings (if you do them that is - at least that's how I felt about it). The physiology textbook (Silverthorn) is very useful in this case. Plus, anatomy is anatomy is anatomy! A good anatomy textbook should see you through the semester. Wikipedia is also quite helpful for muscles, nerves, and vessels. Good luck!

I read the phys textbook in the lead-up to exams (which you should do if you want to get a high score), but I don't think you'll do badly if you don't read it. Watching the lectures alone was enough for me.

But seriously, don't gp to phys lectures in HSF...

I guess it's each to their own. I still scored a decently good H1 score without doing any of the PHYS20008 readings.

Are the Co-op and student centres open tomorrow? What time do they usually open?
Pls do not send me a pm about Aspire applications. The process has vastly changed since I applied.
