Investments is 100% a rehash of the first half of BusFi. I felt like I learnt nothing new after doing the subject. Derivatives isn't as bad as its reputation, but harder than investments in my opinion. No thoughts on CorpFi have yet to do it.

What, during the exam? How did they recover from that? That would have been anarchy.
Still hanging right now, our lecturer just emailed us that the university academic board should reach a decision on Monday :-\

It happened with about 30 minutes left in a 3-hour session. We left immediately after the alarm went off and were told that our exam was now finished once we were outside. They collected our papers while we were outside and then let us back in afterwards to collect our belongings.

Wasn't too rowdy; seems our natural reaction to fire alarms is to assume it's a fire drill. We didn't make much of a mess while leaving.

As for the exam itself, we were told that scripts are still being submitted as-is, but we'll have to wait to find out what happens with marking, grades, or possibly alternative exams.

Well you shouldn't have doubted me getting in, given I had guaranteed entry. :P But we were all in the same boat when it came to the new randomised clinical zone allocation policy, and quite a few Chancellor's Scholars got assigned into the rural zone despite it being their last preference. I'm just glad that luck once again fell in my favour. Nonetheless, I appreciate the kind words. :)

I realised this after I posted it and was like "ok, well fuck" hahaha It's exam time, leave me alone :p

It's probably a good thing that they're randomly allocating people to be honest. Breaks up some of the personalities that will gravitate to one hospital or another. That and all of the clinical schools really do have something to offer.

Hey everyone! Just a quick question from a year 12 student - if the clearly-in (after course offers are given out and all) is 85 again for Science this year, does that mean that - given that I satisfied the subject prerequisites - an 86ish ATAR is enough for me to get in? I'm still a bit confused about the concept of clearly-ins because I've heard that family friends got 86+ last year and didn't get into Science @ Melbourne and I'm not sure if that was because it wasn't their first preference..?
Thanks in advance!

The Clearly-in ATAR is the minimum ATAR you need to be guaranteed a place in that course. In other words, if you score an ATAR higher than this value, you will get a place in the course (assuming you have all the other prereqs and there isn't an interview/folio). It is the lowest ATAR for which a person got into a course, ignoring SEAS, for a given year. Obviously, you should aim a bit higher than what the clearly-in is for the year before, as they can change depending on the demand for a course vs. how many places are available.

i'm really not liking qm2. ive done all the work flew through assignments and tutes and have learnt everything 5 times over but for some reason i still feel super nervous about it and keep coming up against things i realise i didn't know or have been doing wrong (that has somehow gone uncorrected?) all semester. honestly ive never done this much work for a subject before in my life and i still have no indication of how well im going to do at all. and i have a neuromarketing exam immediately afterwards which will also be painful.
hope every1 else is having a better exam period than me !! :) LOL
then we are all free in a few weeks !!

Hey man, if QM2 is anything like last semester the exam is a generic rehash of the assignments so I'd say if you know what was on the assignments you have a really good chance at scoring high. Plus, I was like this before busfi the other day and turned out they gave us an easy exam so fingers crossed for you guys too haha. best of luck

Haha shit sorry I should clarify. I don't think the exam was necessarily easy but there was no Modigliani Miller question that requires some abstract thinking, from which has been on previous semesters I've heard.

I hope it won't scale down either, im assuming markers will be very strict with the answers to those theory questions :(

Hey guys,

Just wondering - how will crediting my 2 Monash Extension units (2015) for 2nd year (so underloading/next year) at Monash affect GPA calculation according to GEMSAS? Currently in 1st year.

Does GEMSAS only consider the units /actually/ undertaken in the past 3 years or does this also include credited units?

In either case, they'd be listed as unspecified credit. But does this mean that my 'Final-minus-1' GPA year would be underweighted (i.e. years 1 and 3 are weighted more)? Or do they just calculate the GPA average of 2nd year normally, but excluding my extension units?

Soz for question overloading (lel) ahah cheers

that qm2 exam was very thorough in testing our knowledge. as a student i didnt like it because it asked us alot but as a teacher it was very well made, testing literally every single formula on the formula sheet ... kudos to the lecturer who was a mad lad anyway
