This site tells you what the GAT actually is and how it impacts on your results should an unusual/unfortunate circumstance that befalls upon and hinders a VCE student from performing at their best in a Unit 3 or 4 exam.
Basically, it is used for:
The VCAA will use students’ GAT scores as a basis for:
* contributing to statistical moderation of School-assessed Coursework
* reviewing school assessments in School-assessed Tasks
* checking the accuracy of examination marking
* calculating the Derived Examination Scores.
In my opinion though, the GAT is a piece of... *insert what you think is appropriate here*
I mean, you have really no idea what they do with the GAT results. All they mention is that it is used for "statistical moderation" and "calculating DES". It's very shifty in my opinion.
It says you can't study for it, but some people that I know say, "If you look at past GATs, you can see a 'pattern'" though I can't confirm it.
