You can do fluid mechanics, I have no idea if that's the same or different

correct. fluid dynamics is a masters of mech eng subject. not available as breadth.

fluid mechanics is taken by chem and mech students tho (it's a common subject) - and is available as breadth.

whats better: do arts degree and study science breadth along with taking language diploma...or monash double degree: science and arts?
2010: TNT (39)
2011: English (42) | Bio (39) | Chem (35) | Jap (35) | Methods (36)|

ATAR: 95.50 ( i actually got my prediction! :D)

i doubt anyone would hire you if you did a science breadth sequence within a arts degree at uom. that said, you can still do a postgrad degree after your b.a if you want to open up that option.

i think the point that people should take away is that breadth is not a replacement for a whole degree. it is only there to complement your main one.

^ What do you want out of it - what Science do you want to study? I am doing Science Breadth and it is making me more employable in a measurable way (I'm satisfying Biology teacher requirements).

Yes. Breadth is only there to complement your main degree. I would do Arts/Science in Monash if you feel strongly for both areas.
Arts/Law (ANU)

i want to study immunology which they offer at monash! but at the same time, their communciations course on the art side seems really shit....however, on the other hand, melb uni's media and communcations course is good, but they dont have science to complement....just stupid breadth...sigh im torn

Hmm - I guess it depends on how bad Monash's Media and Communications is but I would say go with Monash. If you look at the Breadth options for UoM I am almost certain that immunology is not included there which is annoying. On the other hand, I am able to do the capstone (the most important subject from the major) of Physiology through Breadth and will have five subjects (really six including credit) of Biology to credit to my degree - almost a minor. Plus I'm doing Psych - making my degree virtually half Science/Arts.

The other smarty pants option (not sure whether it would work) would be to do a Science degree at UoM and do 6 Breadth M & C subjects. Then start a new Arts degree after your Science one and do four Media subjects in first semester, then quit. There are your two majors in three and a half years. It may be a covered loophole though :S
