If you're looking at Comm/Eng at Monash (brilliant course- wouldn't rather be in any other course personally), B.Comm with a Masters in Engineering is the equivalent at Melbourne.

I don't like the Science - > Engineering pathway at Melbourne. It's an extra year for the same (if not less) engineering as the Bachelor of Engineering at Monash. Yes a Masters "sounds better", but plenty of international bodies have the Monash Bachelor to a Masters Level (as in B.Eng@Monash = BSci+M.Eng@Melbourne)

There are unfortunately no Victorian Universities that I know of that specialize in Mining Engineering (there are actual Bachelors of Mining Engineering at other states), but there are plenty of pathways to getting there.

I'm quite biased, but if you're going for Engineering I'd probably choose Monash. If you're talking a double degree in Comm/Eng, Melbourne and Monash are reasonably similar.

Thanks a lot taiga! I totally forgot about the bachelor of commerce at melb uni...Really appreciate the info. :)

Yes I was thinking that too! Especially given the rising number of applicants, rising UMAT cutoffs, everything... :(

SO MANY FREE STUFF! :D
awesome highlighter/pen,  different types of notepads, 4+ different types of pen, LOLLIES, frisbee, mobile pouch, pins, maps, pencils, ruler, sticky notes

i feel so cheap :(

but, wow, FREE STUFF ARE ALWAYS COOL. but i doubt i will ever use any of them...
I'll just eat the lollies...and pig out on them

Oh, I better comment on something educational here (I mean...that's the whole point of going to open days!...well kinda) Arts/Marketing at Caulfield seems good

+ what was with the 'Monash Uni is corrupt' signs at the entrance to the Clayton campus?

LOL! I saw that guy outside Clayton. His shirt read: 'Monash Uni is CRAP' and as geowtf said, there were about 3 signs with  'Monash Uni is corrupt' (I think there was one about a koala or something too).

That guy clearly had no life (or got rejected like 20 yrs ago ;) )

On an educational note, one of the chem engineering guys nearly convinced me to take the course! Amazing :)

EDIT: From MBBS lecture: "If you want to find James Cook, drive north for a couple of days" LOL  ;D That cracked me up :)

Everyone one the free shuttle bus from Caulfield moved to the right side of the bus just before it turned into the Clayton campus. Everyone went nuts with their Iphones and took photos of the signs and the bloke.

He must hate Monash a lot... and I highly doubt anyone was like 'Oh, no! Corrupt?! I better not go to Monash!' *faint* when they saw the signs. :/

There were a few sausage sizzle. Hard to miss the one outside the campus centre on the lemon scented lawns. The other is near the Matheson Library.

In general, courses with less demand have more freebies ;)

But yeah I did find that they went lower on costs this year.

....way too many med hopefuls though. Almost depressing to see how many people rocked up more than an hour before anything actually started to check out the med stuff.

"Monash Uni is corrupt" is probably some typical left wing crap that comes along with Uni.
