hey, say hypothetically that you're a year 11 student doing VCE with a few year 12 subjects...

and what if they were to not attend their classes/SACs and get an N result for the year 12 VCE subjects?

would this significantly affect their chances of university admission in a negative manner? does it go on some sort of permanent record? and does this actually happen a lot?

if so, what are the consequences (i.e. apart from a lower ATAR score)?

It shouldn't affect your admission unless you're applying for something with subjective selection processes (but really they should be professional enough to overlook it).

I'm not 100% sure if it goes on your permanent record. First thought was yes, now I'm pretty sure that it wouldn't because it wasn't something that contributed towards your VCE. That's why it's no big deal - as long as the VCE criteria have been met as well as any uni prereqs there's nothing much wrong with getting an N in that sense.
