you cant predict that score, it depends on a lot of factors, including whether your B was a high B or a low B
but its very possible that you can get high 30s with a B (provided its a high B and that you do well on your end of years)

same goes for the D+, if you get an A+ for the end of years, you might even get a 40
but realistically, you'd be aiming for around a 32 - 34 if you work hard

sorry to say, but no, there is no chance for a 40 if you got a D+ for midyears, its just too low :/
realistically, and although im not very experienced with calculating study scores, you'd be looking at a med-high 20 or 30 depending on how consistent you are with your grades, for chem

that D+ prediction is not true. there is no chance that someone would get a 40 even if they blitzed end of year and had perfect sacs.

heck, it's very very hard to get 40 with a high B+ for mid years, an A+ in your end of year exam and a decent sac GA

A census taker once tried to test me. I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice Chianti.

last year, one of my friends, who was very good in accounting, was sick on the day of his unit 3 exam, with the flu
he aced all of his sacs before (ranked like 3rd in his school)
he managed to get a low C (which i assume is close enough to a high D+)
he then went on to ace the end of year exam, in which he got a high A+ (nearly full marks)
he got 38 - scaled to 40

so i guess it is possible? - but i did say that it was unlikely

and i did say that a 32-ish score would be more reasonable

sorry for the false-ish info guys (:

how was he ranked 3rd if he aced all his SACs :S
Im gonna assume if he was that sick, then they may have taken the GAT into account and bumped his score up

he didnt ace-ace, like he didnt get 100% for them, i meant he did well

and yeah i guess they could have, but apparently thats what they do if the indicative grades your school gives are very diff to the exam mark
not sure

sorry if i didnt give 100% correct info before, i didnt think it through, that he could have got his score boosted

Hey, hope you guys don't mind me posting here. No point making a new thread. So... I screwed up on the Chem mid year (oh wells) and got a C+ (which is average I guess) and I got an overall A for my SACs. Lets pretend I got a "high" A+ for end of year. What study score (raw) should I be expecting? Realistically of course :) Any chances of a score above 35? thanks

well, if you consider that C+ is the average, getting all C+ should get you around 30
but if you can get an A+ for the end of year exam, i dont see why won't be able to get a high 30's mark
also keep in mind chem scales up HEAVILY around the mid 30's

that's what I thought too!! but I hear some people got A for midyear and end of the year and only ended up with LOW 40s? That's the only thing that's making it depressing for me :/ I just want over 35 for chem. raw. you think it's possible yeah? AHH I hope so :(

I'll be brutally honest. C+ for mid years,    to get a 40 or above (raw score) is "impossible."

But 35 (raw). There is a chance :). SO WORK AT IT!

this is the thing, if you look at the distributions (available on vcaa website)
youll see that the range for an A+ is HUGEEEE compared to everything else
thats why theres not such a grand diff between say an A and a B
but hmm, with a C+, a 35 is DEFS possible, work at it!
but even if not, you'll get a 30-ish if you get another C+ or B
