Just wondering if a Single crystal metal such as aluminium is weaker than the polycrystalline version and why?

Define 'weaker'?

Single crystal metals are more malleable, but they do not break. In this sense, single crystal metals have very high tensile strength.
Polycrystalline metals are brittle, they can sustain larger mechanical stress without deformation. In this sense, they are stronger than single crystal metals.

Thanks mate I understand now :D

(Side note: Do you drive a commodore with rims with number plate 'Mao'? Seen it around the eng car park )

by weaker i mean easier to deform.
