La Trobe doesn't use UMAT. I know of people who have gotten into Adelaide dentistry with a UMAT in the 80s but can't give a lower limit.

Does anyone know if La Trobe will be lenient on non-bio students this year? I know for a fact that many students got into Dent there last year w/o bio, but did chem.

Just checked website - there's not a cutoff as such, because they take 90% ATAR and 10% UMAT for final rankings, so your UMAT could be anything half-decent really depending on your ATAR.

i know 2 people who got into latrobe dentistry without biology, but last year it WASNT a prerequisite
i looked at last year's VTAC guide
this year it is :P

but i called them up and they say that if you get a high ATAR, they will consider it
then and again, im not going to bendigo =.= :P
so if anyone here actually wants to go, you can call them up and check with them abt it

LOL...don't blame u can't wait to get out of here myself ;D

One of my mates got into dentistry at La trobe last year with a terrible umat and an atar of 86....they r pretty desperate for students to study there...although ur not technically studying there, most of the course is done using monash resources!

what's actually so bad about bendigo? :P

and oh right, but is there options for studying off campus or only being there once or twice a week? :D
i might consider if there is ;)

well bendigo is a great place in terms of living, however, in terms of tertiary education (i.e. la trobe) it is a pretty big hole

I thought it was the opposite....do you really know where Bendigo is?
Btw, the UMAT is irrelevant for your friend and getting an ATAR of 86 and getting in meant that your friend must have had like the maximum SEAS possible because dentistry is a competitive course and the normal cut off was 99.10 in 2010 and higher in previous years

That's what I though that SEAS got him into dentistry however all he had was category 1 (rural scheme)....I know I was like WTF  :o

Mate I don't blame you for not taking my info seriously...his friends and even the teachers were in utter shock that he got in...I guess he was lucky...BUT HOW???

BTW I'm not a troll dude  ;D

Is there an interview for dentistry at La Trobe? If so, that might explain why he got in. However, even if he did destroy the interview he must have been very very very LUCKY!!
