Teacher refuses to remark my SAC and SAC results question

Hi,

I received my second last SAC on change management back today and I got a 13/20. On the first question which was out of 6 marks, I only received 2. This is because I listed and explained JP Kotter's 8 steps of change perfectly which was 2 out of the 6 marks possible. The other 4 marks was to list and explain a management style that is suited for change management. I didn't have any space left on the first page so I wrote the rest of the answer on the back page of the SAC however I didn't indicate to refer to the back page for the rest of the answer. Anyway I told the teacher about this and she said that it was my fault for not indicating and therefore she will not remark my SAC. Is this unjust and should I escalate the matter to the VCE coordinator?

At the moment, I'm currently ranked 1 with a score of 108/160 and I can't risk losing this position. As you can see, our SAC results are poor with each SAC having an average of about 40%. I'm currently averaging about 67.5% BUT am consistently ranked in the top 3 results with an overall average ranking of first. Rank 1 is 108, rank 2 and 3 is 103 and rank 4 is 101. My question is: are these percentages indicative of what shows up on our graded assessment report? (C+? or would it be an A+ because of my rank?) Also, are these INTERNAL grades the grades that contribute to our study score or is it the ranking behind our grades and the examination result that contributes to create our study score?

The reason behind the poor marks is merely a result of our teacher's correcting on SACs. Everyone knows their stuff and there are a few that I believe are capable of achieving a 40+ study score. Is it still possible for me to achieve a study score of 45+ despite my internal marks?

Thank you.

If your teacher was nice she would let you off, but rules are rules... if you don't mark the question in the back, you don't get marks.

I DID mark the question on the back page. I just didn't write on the first page to refer to the back page for the rest of the answer.

I do agree rules are rules, but then again your teacher sounds a bit cruel. I can't see why she she wouldn't give you those marks unless your answer are (a) wrong or (b) she has a grudge against you.

All I can say mate is you can try and hopefully they will sort out the issue. Best of luck mate.

I guess it is my fault but there's no harm in trying to get it remarked. Is it possible for someone to answer my second question please?

Thank you!

It is ranking behind your sacs and exam mark that make up your study score... I say talk to another teacher about it. Considering you did mark the answer at the back of the sheet. Thats what i did for my last sac and my teacher was fine with it. Good luck!!

You definitely should fight it.. that's extremely unjust. I did that for my last legal sac and even though I didn't indicate at the actual question it was still marked, because I did write it after all. The teacher should just accept the mistake and remark it - stuff like this is v.unnecessary!

Thats bulls*it then... I'd fight it, what a dodgy teacher...
I wouldn't even know to do that on the exam... "refer to back page"

At least you can use it as a learning curve for end of years I suppose...

Rules are Rules, but 100% you are in an unjust position, even the VCAA, if they don't mark something when you write it elsewhere, but you order an inspection of Exam Script and you point it out, that there was an extra bit they missed, provided that you wrote the question number and part directly before writing your answer on the back page, they will mark it.

So if on the back page I write:
Q1) b. (continued)
...(my answer)

They will remark it!
But if you don't write which question then they won't (which is reasonable)

But I think you should go to your co-ordinator about this and state that the VCAA (on exams) give you this opportunity, don't let things like this happen!
