Just a little bit confused about the way scholarships work
Do we have to fill in all the application details on the VTAC thing or are we automatically considered for a scholarship for our preferred course if we get a high enough ATAR score

I asked my teacher and he said that I should have ticked some scholarship box and that I don't need to fill in the thing on VTAC
but I dont know what he is referring to....

any help would really be appreciated

Edit: this is for a merit scholarship

I'm not sure on the:

... automatically considered for a scholarship for our preferred course if we get a high enough ATAR score...

But I would highly recommend you to fill out the scholarship application form anyway.  You may or may not get a scholarship but in the event that you could have, and you didn't fill it out, you'd be kicking yourself, right?

In fact that advice extends to everyone, regardless of how you think you'll perform on your ATAR.  Fill it out, be safe and kick back knowing that you've covered everything.

alright, thanks :D

with the leadership skills part (and the other 2)
when we write it up
is it just a matter of listing what we did
i.e. I did work experience
or should we write as much as we can (obviously within the limit)

what kind of things do the Universities look for within the scholarship form?

You could list what you did and you could probably discuss (within the limits) how those activities helped to develop and build upon certain skills that you think are relevant to answering the question.

I think what they are looking for are what are your extra-curricular activities and what have you done alongside your education that makes you stand out among other applicants.

about this: i was talking about the general scholarship application that VTAC submits to a number of uni's on your behalf
is that automatically done?

no, you'll only be considered for a scholarship provided you apply.

Nah.  ANU and UMelb offered me scholarships and I didn't apply for anything.

As long as you have listed a uni in your preferences, you should be eligible for any general scholarships that they offer.

Faculty specific ones are likely to need a separate application.

Just wondering, what scholarship is this application for? I remember running around searching all the websites on the last day of school to see what scholarships needed an application form due in by the 30th of Sep and I couldn't find any... :\
