Section B: Context....

How are you guys approaching this section of the exam? Are you memorising a few structures and paragraphs? Or just have a really solid understanding and knowledge of your themes/ideas then write an essay on the spot? Maybe even memorise entire essays then mix and match the paras whilst moulding it to the prompt?

Discuss.

My favourite section!

My approach is pretty simple. I've got several (let's say... eight) different paragraphs, better described as pairings of examples prepared. The majority of these paragraphs fit almost any Whose Reality prompt, and when I get a prompt I simply mix and match these paragraphs to fit an essay. The conclusion and introduction usually stay basically the same.

As for overall structure, I was approaching the exam with a purely academic essay - expository approach, but since the Connect lecture and a few meetings with teachers from my school I've decided to go with an expository-persuasive or expository-imaginative hybrid.

This is what makes your self-respect so important, and I don't see how you can respect yourself if you must look in the hearts and minds of others for your happiness.”

well i realised that i always start off the same way..so thats already a guaranteed two lines on my exam booklet.

All I am basically gonna do is try to really get to know the book inside out and the events that you use as evidence..you start to recycle your ideas anyway..i feel like as though in the ones i have written to date have some repetitive aspect to em. And get to probs memorise a few significant quotes...or at least what  i reckon is sig..

There's no real preference in terms of where the quotes come from, as long as they come from someone who is somewhat 'reputable', accurate and most importantly tie in with the topic perfectly.

I'm doing an imaginative-expository hybrid piece.

I'll probably memorise my intro, general context of the piece, and a few select paragraphs that I can mould for any given prompt.

I'm deciding out of two forms - feature article or interview - but I'll probably only fully memorise the structure to one. If I go with the interview I'll just memorise the intro and various questions & answers....
