I don't do this subj. but the supposedly easy q1 - only 27% got it right...

what the !?!?

I definitely deserved 2 marks for question 1

"
 the majority of amino acids on the outside of the molecule are hydrophilic
 the groups that are hydrophobic are on the inside. "

i said both of those things

FFS - should have gotten an inspection of script

someone from my school said that you "had to write about hydrogen bonding" (he ordered insepction of script)

obviously not...

last time i trust anyone ffs

if two examniers both took off a mark there is a VERY VERY high chance that you didn't deserve it.

it was the only question on the page.

i got 2/4

I suspect one examiner might have skipped that page

i wrote that basically word for word

mm, but you have to consider, that an assessor would be marking hundreds of these scripts, that means they would know what to look for in every question, so the chance they would miss it is pretty much zero.

BUT, if you want to sleep easy at night , get an inspection... save you the worrying

Haha I got the last question (7e) completely wrong... I'm surprised one of the examiners gave me a mark.
Most I can't remember what I put - but like someone said, there's two examiners so it's highly unlikely they were both wrong in their marking.
And an examiner that has marked 100s of the same paper is unlikely to "skip a page"....

Just reading assessors report -

Q 3a) they accepted "ethylene" but not "ethene?" They're exactly the same substance, they're just two different names (with "ethene" being the more correct IUPAC name)?

"Ethene, for example, was deemed to be incorrect as it is a different organic substance [to ethylene]."

You're kidding me, right?

LOL! I wasn't aware of this before googling it (being chemistry-deprived) but how funny is that! I hope no-one was penalised by that :S
In a related matter, though, I'm glad we gave both accepted answers for that question.

bro that happens to everyone,

nearly all my marks I lost in the short answer (4.5) for unit three were those half marks.

move on.

I never saw ethene in place of ethylene in any textbooks. Quite stingy though, reminds me of the analness of the examiners when they required 'intact skin' ..
