VCE at TAFE

IMO there is a big misconception that TAFE is only for students who have failed at high school or are not academically capable, but recently I have heard many great success stories.

So what is the highest mark you've heard anyone get at a TAFE ?
Personally, I heard a particular person got a 99+ and from memory some of his study scores were:

Chem. 50/50
Methods. 43/50
Biology. 44/50

FWIW this particular person got an ATAR of 99+ at a TAFE located in Broadmeadows.

“We are all alone, born alone, die alone, we shall all someday look back on our lives and see that, in spite of our company, we were alone the whole way. I do not say lonely -- at least, not all the time -- but essentially, and finally, alone. This is what makes your self-respect so important, and I don't see how you can respect yourself if you must look in the hearts and minds of others for your happiness.”

Honestly, this is probably the general attitude out there. It's obviously not true for all cases (such as the amazing one you've described, and stonecold as Ghost! said), but from the people I've talked too, the general attitude is similar to that, which is a bit unfair I think. :(

Yeh it is kinda unfair if you think about it, I am a TAFE student and I really enjoy it.

It is a great environment and I love the fact I do not have to deal with none of the typical 'high school dilemmas'

I am currently doing year 11 and aiming for a 95+ next year, some of my peers think I wont even come close simply because I am at TAFE.

Baffling if you ask me.

Haha, that is the biggest load of rubbish ever.

I have a friend who dropped out from a private girls school because she hated the environment so much.  She came back to finish VCE last year after 2 or 3 years of dropping out got 99.00 and is now studying Arts/Law at Monash.

Another girl had a similar story with MacRob.  She came to CAE and ended up with a premiers award in some subject.

Point is, it doesn't really matter where you go.  Some environments are better suited to some, and other environments are better suited to others.  I know personally, had I stayed in any type of high school, be it public, private, Catholic or selective, I wouldn't have scored nearly as well.  It was that environment which made me nearly drop out in the first place actually.

Personally, I'll take school in the city with no uniform, no annoying distractions and two days off every week any day. :p

Good luck to you for next year kiddo.  :)

How do they conduct a SAC? There is only one class for each subject a week, and they only run for 2 hours. And does this count as tertiary studies or just plain vce?
