 does the chance of survial of a species vary over succesive years ?

it all depends on the selection pressure
2010:

if the selective pressure stays constant than you would imagine that the chance of the species with the dominant traits to survive as they are more fit.

I might be wrong, but I don't believe that the dominant trait is necessarily more fit in term of survival. For example, if in beetles, A= black and a = white, the recessive trait (white) would be more fit and have the selective advantage if the population was in a snowy environment.

yeah you are correct. Whether the allele is dominant or recessive it all comes down to the selection pressure.

here's my question: would selection pressure have a greater impact on the allele that codes for the dominant trait?
