4 nights left till our first exam - English.
How are we all sleeping?
I tried to sleep at 11 last night and set the alarm at 7 for a good 8 hour sleep. But woke up at 9 and haven't done any work since...

Gonna try going to bed at 10:30 at the latest and get up at 7-8. Just try getting some consistent sleep, before the exams :)

Scenario 1:

I study better at night, so when I study sometimes it will go on until 2-3.
(The bad part is waking up feeling like shit)

Scenario 2:

I develop a habit of sleeping early and wake up feeling fresh
(The bad part is compromising my comfort of studying at night)

What do you guys recommend ?

You could stay up for days trying to figure out why electrons behave as if they have no mass when travelling through a graphine sheet.

Srsly though, you need to be in peak condition for exams. I like studying at night because it's dark, quiet and nothing is going on around me, I don't feel like I am missing anything so I'm able to study well. Maybe get yourself a dark room and some 'noise cancelling headphones' so that you can study just as effectively in the day.

Feeling better on the day of the exam will give you confidence. You still have a few days to study during the day for english so give that a shot!

I get to sleep at 3-4 and then wake up at 2-3PM and feel like absolute shit. I can't change this, even if i try. I try waking up earlier, i just doesn't work :(

Put the most annoying alarm you can find, and put it out of arms reach. It works.

I recommend making your alarm the screeching mosquito. ;)

You'll jump up, hold your pillow and try to murder that mutherfucker. Until you realise it is the alarm.

I put it in the next room, that way I have to get up and walk to turn it off. It that doesn't work then some angry family member wakes me up only 2 mins later than I was hoping.

For others yes, for me it's probably out of reach.

About Philosophy

When I see a youth thus engaged,—the study appears to me to be in character, and becoming a man of liberal education, and him who neglects philosophy I regard as an inferior man, who will never aspire to anything great or noble. But if I see him continuing the study in later life, and not leaving off, I should like to beat him - Callicle

For me, it kinda depends when I sleep and not how long I sleep, when I have a good sleeping pattern and sleep at around 11pm- midnight then 8 hours is sufficient and i feel fresh the next day. However if I have a shitty sleeping pattern (like i do now), sleeping at like 9am-10am, I sleep for like 12-13 hours and i still feel drowsy the next day. During exam time, my sleeping pattern is completely fucked, i normally don't sleep before my uni exams.
