If I could do VCE again:

1. Wouldn't bother so much with English- I got more or less the same score in lit as I did in English (after scaling) for about 1/10 of the work. AND in my GAT I got a 50 for the English section with 0 input. I must have been doing something very wrong in my studying for English.
2. Taken a language- not for scaling, but because it's an important skill to have
3. Kept my job- I just ended up using the time I would be working lying on the couch watching news24 and it meant that when I did finish and needed a job I had to start at the bottom again.

Apart from that I wouldn't do anything differently.

Now that I've actually found out my results, if I had a 2nd shot I would:

- Spend more time on english
- Not give up on studying right before end of year exams
- Try to do more UMAT prep
- Do accounting and/or psych
- Do 2 3/4s in year 11

Should've studied more
in English, and doing
anything other than accounting.

- Done a language
- Understood that specialist maths is substantially more competitive than methods
- Not get complacent with English, the truth is, I did really well on SACs, 1 - 2 marks behind a friend who got a 50 in English (at my school) - but I got too complacent before exams, unlike maths, English fluctuates, I only, towards the end, started to understand that I can write good essays, have lunch, and come back writing crap.

-STUDY!
-Tried for SACs (:
-Not gotten into scrubs lol <<<mixed emotions for this last one

although on second thought,
i might not have changed anything.. VCE is a part of growing up and our experiences shape us and in my opinion VCE has made me less naive

Thats why you get into Scrubs the exact day AFTER your last exam.

But I would put a lot more work into english, I know I'm not good at it and it seems no matter how much work I put into I don't get any better or worse, but still I should have not "given up" as such. But hey, I DON't HAVE TO DO THE ENGLISH SUBJECT ANYMORE! :D

A lot of hate for 3/4 Physics in this thread...can I ask why? (I've only done 1/2)

Reasons why some people love unit 1/2 physics but hate unit 3/4 physics:
1. Unit 3/4 physics is significantly harder than units 1/2.
2. Most of the year is just electricity which is the boringest physics topic ever.

Put simply, its VCE physics. We count boxes instead of doing proper calculus and we blindy plug numbers in equations instead of actually needing to have a good understanding of what we are doing. Anyone got anything to add to that? I used to have a list about 10 dot points long but I've finally achieved my goal of forgetting most of it.

Exams are getting better though, esp starting frmo 2010. I put it to the fact that Boydell was in exam writing panel from 2010 :D

I don't think I would change anything.

The bad decisions I made and the experiences I had were what made Year 12 and VCE what it was for me.

To me, VCE was more a journey rather than a 'shoulda, woulda, coulda' thing.

Makes sense I guess. I did experience a lot of the "blindly plugging numbers" component this year and it certainly wasn't engaging.

Unit 3/4 physics is not what i would call "significantly harder". Actually, in terms of the transition from units 1/2 to units 3/4 physics is one of the easier subjects IMO.

i would STUDY HARDER and make myself study to the point where i come into an exam thinking that ive done everything ive possible could (because even if you fail you'll think hey at least i tried my best)... and dont have high expectations at the start of the year and announce what you think you'll get because you never know whats gonna happen (especially if you're in year 11 and dont know how hard VCE really is YET) OH and dont go on this site after exam 1 of methods/spesh and sulk about the wrong answers all day when you could have been studying for exam 2. OH and dont do a subject you hate because know matter what you do, the info will refuse to stay in your brain. start studying on the hols, because you really dont have enough time during the year. It will be like BOOM BOOM BOOM

Well I've only talked to 3 people: 2 of them go to my school and 1 goes to a different school, and they were all complaining that unit 1/2 physics was very easy but then unit 3/4 physics was a million times harder.
And I don't know what area of studies you find fascinating, but let's just say you won't be learning particle physics in VCE.
