Because:
1. Unit 3/4 physics is significantly harder than units 1/2.
2. Most of the year is just electricity which is the boringest physics topic ever.
Unit 3/4 physics is not what i would call "significantly harder". Actually, in terms of the transition from units 1/2 to units 3/4 physics is one of the easier subjects IMO.

Well I've only talked to 3 people: 2 of them go to my school and 1 goes to a different school, and they were all complaining that unit 1/2 physics was very easy but then unit 3/4 physics was a million times harder.
And I don't know what area of studies you find fascinating, but let's just say you won't be learning particle physics in VCE.
Pretty sure nuclear physics from 1/2 is harder than every single topic in 3/4 combined, and I don't know about you but special relativity was the best thing I've learnt throughout high school.

Nuclear physics? As in half-life and stuff? I found that the easiest of all unit 1/2 physics topics.
Einstein's theory of relativity and astrophysics are the only topics which I actually enjoy but my teacher can't teach them so he makes us do all the electronics stuff instead.
I reckon if the class got to choose the detailed studies themselves, then physics would be so much better and I would consider doing it next year.

Same here, I aced Nuclear Physics last year, and would have love to do Einstein's Special Relativity.
I actually found Motion and Electricity easier this year than last year because it was more clearer.

It was Structures and Materials + Sound which I hated

Lol Nuclear physics was a breeze especially compared to chemistry

Agreed, it was the easiest Physics topic by far last year.

should've done studio arts or VCD + Further in year 11 :'( I was too pessimistic to think that I'd be in the 40+ SS range back in the day...

Well prob coz I haven't touched chemistry since yr 9. I thought normal helium had 1 proton and evidently screwed up my quantum physics exam..yeh that's how bad I am in chem :S

That's quite odd to be honest. A lot of 3/4 physics is exactly the same stuff learnt in y11, with just a little extra content added on.
Also i never said I found physics fascinating. I hate VCE physics with a passion  :P

Edit: Things you would do different if you had a 2nd shot at the VCE - Not pick up physics :)

if i had a second chance at year 11, i would most definitely have done another 3&4. I think i kind of over estimated the workload of 3&4 compared to 1&2. Really not that much difference, only that its alittle more intense because your sacs actually mean something. plus i probably got alittle intimidated  with the year 12's in my school who always say 'how hard year 12 is'... :-\

Actually read my English texts and watch the movie.. Awkward moment when I forgot one of the main charactes names in the sac. Also, I wouldn't pick fucking stupid subjects which suck in general cough Australian history/visual communication.. Joke subjects.

- Studied English more consistently throughout the year
- Dropped literature because it was the bane of my existence
- Done an english subject in year 11 to reduce the pressure on year 12
2010 - Environmental Science [48] - Mathematical Methods CAS [50]
2011 - English [:3] - Specialist Mathematics [50]- Latin [43] - Chemistry [46] - Literature [:3]

I'm in year 12 this year but I would have definitely tried harder or chose a different 3/4 subject to do in year 11, I mean I loved enviro science because the teacher was great and it was fun but it was so easy to neglect and put more effort into my year 11 subjects

I also would have done English as I only did Literature and decided to change to English at the end of the year...and now I have never written a language analysis haha

...and I have a feeling I'll regret doing Chemistry this year but whatevs

Wouldn't have picked methods or psych (too much of a science since the course change) and instead stuck to humanities with BM and International Studies.
Seriously, interest is paramount for VCE success.

If I had a second chance at yr 10, I would have worked harder from the start of the year, not from when the Chinese exam was coming up.
