hey guys

i need to really increase my vocabulary and use those words when i doing the analysis. But i have trouble remembering or even using them when it comes SAC time.
Can anyone give me some advice or tips in not just building on new words but remebering them.

Also does anyone have a list of great words to use for articles analysis.
e.eg linking words or phrases such as " this makes the reader feel....." etc.

thanks

Just remember that some teachers dislike "forced" phrases.  For instance, "makes the reader feel" suggests that the reader has no choice, whereas "positions the reader to feel" is more passive and implies, rather than states.

Very true, how can we know how each individual reader reacts?
That's why positioning its a perfect term to use.
Just be careful, don't take for granted the audience, and just remember the audience is the most important part of the analysis.

yeah I agree, when you say "make" it seems the ALL of the audience HAS to 'feel' this. Whereas "positions" gives an implication.

To avoid what EvangelionZeta pointed out (and you MUST try and avoid it, some examiners hate it), there's basically two ways around it.

1. Place it in perspective of what the AUTHOR is INTENDING to achieve
2. Place it in perspective of what the READER MAY feel (i.e. don't use absolutes)

I just hooked up this new computer so I don't have my notes on me, but I'll paste up what phrases I can later when I get this running.
