Off topic, but b^3, i realised from your sig that you're the 2011 Dux, I thought Dux was given to the person with the highest ATAR? :S

I think after we get our ATAR, we'll be in summer holiday. Who the **** goes to school during summer holiday o.O?

(dux at our school) Our school does it differenlty, we had our awards night on wednesday and the dux is given to who the teachers think will go on to get the highest ATAR and do the best. I didn't think I was in the running and was sure I knew who should have got it, in the end they couldn't split 3 of us (scores too close = sac scores + comps e.t.c). But keep in mind that our school gets around 10 (or so) and we are ranked around the 300 mark, so it is not as comparable to say the dux at melb high or macrob. But it does look good on a resume.

Oh, it's cause at my school they announce the Dux after the ATARs are released, whoever gets the highest ATAR will be the Dux so I was just a little confused ;D

Yepp, I get you I get you :) - anyways, congratulations and I hope that you do end up getting the highest ATAR, all the best :)

Thanks, but I don't think I will though, my english score isn't going to be high enough.

Anyway back on topic. Srsly though our school is starting to get a bit more competitive culture than it has had in past years and I think we are going to jump a load of ranks this year. C'mon western suburbeners (not a word, I know), we can show everyone what we've got.

I used to live in the Western Suburbs back in Primary School and I remember back then there were loads of smart kids that I knew, recently I've got in contact with them again on Facebook and that and it seems as if a lot of them haven't realised their potential - had they gone to a school such as Glen Waverley Secondary, I think they would have ended up much better - so I do feel sympathy for them :(

But yeah, that competitive culture is important, and I think that's what a lot of lower-ranked schools lack, just a lot of their population isn't very interested in academics

Btw, if you're living in the Western Suburbs, you're going to love travelling to Monash every day next year ;P

I predict Melbourne Grammar as pulling a 2009 - a high number of 99.95s, and a median ATAR around 93-94. You heard it here first, and I'm generally pretty good at this :p

Cause you're in it Thushan!

You guys know what, we should like create a super-elite school, where at the end of year 10, we take in just 50 of the best in the state, and ensure that they all get above 99.50, good idea eh? ;D
