is writing ligase acceptable when they ask what joins DNA together, or do we have to write DNA ligase?
and does RNA ligase exist?

I would write DNA ligase since RNA ligases do exist

DNA Ligase = when DNA is a product (ie, during DNA replication)
RNA Ligase = when RNA is a product (ie, during Transcription, which results in pre-mRNA)
