Warm water and then stretch/massage it. If it's particularly bad, aspirin/ibuprofen etc.

I used to get these a fair bit, they can be annoying and cost you time.

1) Don't grip your pen too hard - it's hard in the stress of an exam but just relax for a second and it'll help a lot.
2) If you cramp up and need to stretch your hand but are worried about time, clench and unclench your hand a few times and as you do this plan out your next few sentences.
3) You have a 2 hour exam? Set a time limit of 1hr 30 for practice exams - you'll get used to writing in this time and it'll make the exam a bit of a reprieve.

Point #1 is so true! I always grip my pen really tightly out of habit/stress and my hand ends up being pretty sore. I need to learn to ease up. :P

I think point 3 is very important as well. I've been doing this and it helps you get used to pressured time constraints for exams.
In terms of hand pain, i loosen my grip then start writing about twice as fast and it doesn't feel too bad.

Quick question, and I think I know the answer to this but are we say allowed to wear open-finger gloves in the exam (I'm guessing no) but  it would put less strain on the hands and fingers, and if it's a cold day, keep them warm.  (Why am I even asking this I know the answer. Wait why am I talking to myself now. Wait "I'm not crazy, my mother had me tested". Don't ask me why I just did that, I think I'm just trying to procrastinate, or maybe I have finally lost it.)

Everyone is at this time of year, other wise they are superhuman, their hands won't cramp for english, their minds don't stuff up basic calculations for maths and they will get 99.95.

Anyway just wondering if anyone is ambidexterous here? As in can write with both hands, that could help if you cramp up in one hand.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's a common cause for carpal tunnel actually.
