Just to try and break up the inevitable flood of posts, if you want to ask specific questions or discuss specific sections there are three threads :)

On the Waterfront - both were good questions, I did the first one, I went a little overtime, but very happy with my essay, hope it'll be enough to save me!

Dear America.. The prompts were great, but I suppose that's to be expected- it's only in its second year. I've yet to see anybody here who is studying Dear America... I reckon there would be have been a total of 10 or so exams done on my text :P
All of the quote memorising paid off. How many quotes did you guys include in your essays? Also, how did those doing Maestro go? I heard the prompts for that were terrible :S

Ransom! What role does love play in the novella, bla bla?

I talked about what it could do; 'break' a man - Achilles, Neoptolemus, how we long for it and to protect it - Priam, Achilles and his mother (and Briseis, even - slipped her in as a passing comment.) And then how it wasn't just love of other people, but of life and the little things that come with it. And then how it allows us to learn our humanity. I was kind of vague about how this last point was related to love to be honest; talked about how love is central to our identity and it is this commonality between men that is so important (i.e; the ransom) I didn't talk about the redemptive power of love, nor how it connected Priam and Achilles.

GUYS, I'M STRESSING. I'm usually brilliant at Ransom and this felt like utter shit. I missed everything! I'm so concerned. Do these points work?

oh cool, so if you provide text evidence in general its enough?
cause i kinda focused more on contrasts/imagery than on quotes

Really Sucked to Year of Wonders, the second prompt was nuts.

What were the prompts for YOW?

The first one was a quote from Anna then What other characters do this or something.

the second once was how does brooks show a sense of time? Some really messed up structural one.

Maestro :D

I actually had trouble picking a prompt because both of them were surprisingly straight forward even though its the 4th year. :)

GG if Maestro is still in next year. theres gonna be some insane prompts.

Ahhh CRAP! I just realised something....

In one of the Ransom prompts it said how does David Malouf portray love in ransom blah blah blah. If I talked about how love was portrayed in the novel is that still okay? I mentioned how David Malouf portrayed it at the intro but then just talked about how it was shown in the novel by the characters and etc.

Horrible, really really horrible. Did it at the end, ran out of ideas, basically said the same thing in two paragraphs in a different way, missed the point of the prompt. Stupid Chistams Carol, stupid Scrooge, stupid me  :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(
