This was a pre-muck up day prank at my school. On cue with "please stand while the teachers leave" or whatever they say when assembly finishes. I forget. Year 12s sit in the balcony at my school, so one of us (legend) dressed up as Quirrell ran into the main hall (not balcony), said the line, then cue yr 12 screaming and running out, piano teacher playing harry potter theme on the organ. 'Twas epic to say the least.

The old man dropped his pile of exams

yeah that would be funny for me too because the old man at my school dropped a pile as well. except, my exam was in that pile. i was so neurotic after that, kept thinking to myself 'what if the staples got pulled apart and they won't be scanned properly?!?!?!' etc etc. argh.

ROFL Yeah, I was like.. old man you better check all the exams are there rofl

And yeah, all examiners at my school look like they've seen death thrice

There's this one little old lady who supervises all the exams that are run in the hall, I think - she was at the GAT, and my Methods exam last year, as well as English. The other invigilators were surprisingly young, though. I'd say in their 30s.

I have tritanopia and have until this day in my life never known that I can't see yellow highlighter against white paper (just never was exposed to the issue). When I got given a highlighter today in the exam, I was freaking OUT because my paper was becoming soggy but I couldn't see the colour coming up.

I was like, wtf is going on, am I dreaming/hallucinating? I was like tapping the page and it was soggy with highlighter, but I couldn't see the colour at all. People could begin to smell it as well and saw that my whole page was practically scribbled in with yellow highlighter, and I couldn't explain to them what I had done until after the exam.

I spent a good 3 minutes in writing time trying to get the highlighter to work (which I had borrowed earlier in the morning).

Funny in hindsight, although I was seriously freaking out in the exam

Not really something funny but a guy sitting in front of me had written notes into his dictionary (I assume they were quotes), he didn't get caught out.

My dictionary was checked twice :S

I heard a story of this girl who went to my school doing a religion exam.
She printed out relevant essays in columns on ricepaper and stuck them into her bible.
She would have got away with it, but apparently it was so ingenious that the craziness of her effort circulated to examiners.

wow. Could you see the colour on the barrel/body of the highlighter?

EDIT: then again, yellow highlighter is ridiculously bright sometimes. I have normal vision and sometimes have trouble seeing yellow highlighter on paper if it's not particularly vivid/ink is running out.

Whoa, dedication. What happens if you get caught with notes in your dictionary/bible? Does it get taken off you, and you sit the exam without it, or do you get done for attempting to cheat? It didn't occur to me until last night that people could write notes in their dictionary, but I'm against cheating so luckily I didn't do that

Our dictionaries are checked before we start/reading time, so they'd just be removed. If you're caught cheating in any way, either your exam is terminated on the spot, or you finish without the notes. There has to be LOTS of paperwork done either way. TBH, the effort put into all that would be more than studying, and I'm usually too lazy for either.

I don't know! I've used other colours all the time... just never yellow. I must have been looking at pages which have had stuff highlighted on them now that I think about it, and other people would have been showing me stuff with highlights, but I just would never have known and been reading over the whole thing and not just the stuff they've highlighted.

It was a Stabilo Boss highlighter so the barrel is black, and this one happened to have a black lid as well (go figure, even that's abnormal for Stabilo Boss).

When it didn't work at first, I was just like wth is going on... staring at people around me thinking to myself "how do I ask someone in the last third of an English exam if my highlighter is working or not... isn't this one weird hell of a conundrum?"

Haha a teacher at my school casually checked my dictionary before I went in, then the assessors went around checking dictionaries. I don't think anyone had notes though, so it's all good

Yeah, enough paperwork has to be done over going to the toilet... I think putting notes in dictionaries is just too much effort for me.
