for question 1

If the 2 functions insect, then they must intersect on the line y = x

since they are inverse functions

so

hah I don't think it's that important. I don't think it appears in VCAA exams. I've heard that Itute questions are a bit too much sometimes.

Yeh I'm pretty sure VCAA could quite possibly put a question with logs and indices of that level =\

I was referring to identifying prime factors since coincidentally, there was a question on logs me and TT discussed once and the cleverest solution involved splitting the numbers into prime factors. This happened to be the case here, coincidentally, and when i said "it's not that important, VCAA doesnt have it etc." it was in response to TT's claim that he ought to start recognizing prime factors more often. So I was only referring to recognizing prime factors, not logs(they are important, i agree). In fact 5 and 2 being prime were not significant in this question. It could've been 10*6=60

What is the relevance of 'I've heard that Itute questions are a bit too much sometimes'?

The difficulty of Itute questions are often [if not always] above VCAA's standards.
