Everybody is saying this exam was harder than previous years?

Is this because it actually was an harder exam??
or was it because VCAA put new tricks in that none of us have ever seen before??

It was overall more difficult I think. There was nothing particularly 'tricky' about it, to the extent of the cone question, it was just more demanding.

it really wasn't harder, every year they need to make new questions. That's just how it works, otherwise the test wouldnt really be challenging if people just rote learned all the method, to spew it all out. They want you to think for yourself, and all exams do this - including this one.

Others say other things.

But.

I found that the exams from 2006-10 were all really similar

Sure SOME of our questions were similar, but there were a few differences..

our prob question was probably harder with the mod graph - which would have screwed weaker people up in not understanding how to approach it, as simply integrating it wouldn't work - and people that did integrate it correctly would have struggled because the numbers were filthy, thank god I sketched the graph

No inverse or tangent/normal question was absolutely sadface.

I don't recall a rates of change question, which was very weird...

Our area under the curve was hard -_-, I messed up a single figure and so I couldn't work out anything, ehhhh

and the last question was hard - but fair enough, most other years had one wtfbbq question

I would say it was harder - but obviously I am biased and crap at maths, so w/e
Re: Silly things you did during the exam..
I accidentally wrote a really shit context essay, oh wai-

English (33>31)

It was more difficult BECAUSE of the new tricks they put in.

Usually they change the exam slightly, but the last questions were different to previous years.
