AHAHAHA
Hey, sorry. Got back late yesterday night and I've been cramming for philosophy a bit.
I thought the exam was pretty good, actually. I preferred previous years' social life question but the other questions were quite good. Bit iffy on one of the Venice questions though.
Russ, I couldn't get a paper, but from memory (not word for word but the gist of the question):
Section A:
1) Explain how geographic features effected the economy of one republican and one non-republican city state.
2) Discuss how the investment of public and private patrons effected the development of art and architecture.
Section B:
2 excerps: Ordinances of Justice and Najemy's view that the popolo intended to divide the elite.
1) What was the main criteria to be elected as a prior? (1mark)
2) Where were two limitations? (2marks)
3) What was Najemy's view?(1mark)
4) Talk about 2 events that changed the distribution of power in Florence in the 14th century. (6 marks)
5) Lorenzo de Medici's de facto reign: Tyranny or Republic? (10 marks)
Section C: Quote from Guicciardini about having a "good name" Discuss how important a "good name" was in the social structure of Florence.
Section D: Image given: God the Father over the Piazza San Marco.
1) Identify 4 ways this painting represents the Myth of Venice (4 marks)
2) From your own knowledge and the image, how was the Piazza San Marco used to promote unity and calm in Venice? (6 marks)
3) How was the Myth of Venice used in response to the crises ofthe 15th and 16th century? (10 marks)
Section A, Section B and most of Section D were pretty easy.
