I didn't use one and I don't think anyone in my classes used one. I didn't find it necessary at all.

I used an iPad at some parts of the year for taking notes in psychology, and the joke of using it as a mousepad for information technology (my teacher said it), but it really depends on the subjects you do. For me taking notes was only really necessary for those subjects where accounting and methods required paper and materials to work.

I would say it comes down to two things.

>Your subjects material and what it asks of you.
>The fact it doesn't distract you more than what it could potentially help you.

I have one, but it has hardly ever left home. I just use it like a desktop. You certainly don't need it, and no one uses them at school.

Weirdly enough, most of the VCE kids in my school didn't bring laptops to school, whereas a whole bunch of the IB kids did. For myself, if I needed the internet I had my phone, and my school has a shitload of laptops for in-class use when we need them... I reckon it comes down to personal choice and subjects, eg. why the hell would you need one in Maths class

Dont do it.

Or do you mean in school, or just at home?

From what i can see, you don't seem to be doing any maths subjects so i guess it will be alright, but in my opinion the old- fashioned way is better, that is pen and paper. Unless of course you require the internet for research, but as kazdawg said you'll probably get distracted.

I've seen many people use iPads and such in class with textbooks loaded onto them. Probably not a good idea, they usually end up playing games

Using laptops is a given at my school, can't imagine a classroom without them.
But yeah, they can be REALLY distracting.
