Thoughts on the exam? Was it easier or harder than everyone expected? Were there any tricky or ambiguous questions? Discuss.

I think I did average on it because of the time limit. I tipped nearly all of the questions for France and Russia but because of the time I couldn't flesh out my points so not good.

I didn't as well as I thought I would. :( The French essay question was irritatingly different to the other previous years' questions, whereas the Russian one seemed pretty easy. Unfortunately I was stuck with the French one, although I handled it alright.
I had the knowledge on all these topics but there was just not enough time. It didn't help that I misjudged how much time we had, or that the stress of the moment made me forget a lot of historians' names.

Thought I did okay! :)
3 - 4 pt questions for Russia were unexpected, but somehow managed to answer it :)
The new society Russia image for document analysis was crap aswell, but the topic of Civil War was easy to write on!

Did anyone think they didn't give us enough lines in the script book, particularly for the 3 - 4 point questions?
I had to use so much extra space for those questions, 1 page is not nearly enough to fully explain your points in my opinion.

yeh definitely not enough room to write. i always went onto the extra space and nearly ran out of room.

Does anyone know which historians were the ones mentioned in the French prompt? I honestly could not think of any historians I've studied who have made the 'poor classes' claim.

Oh and I also have to agree about the lack of space.

they probably just made them up themselves - they've been dodgy on all exams this year

Could've been worse. Did Section A - France, B - Russia, found it all doable. I managed to finish, at least. D: And I spent the entire morning cramming for historians opinions, so sadly I'm going to be one of those people as mentioned in the 2010 examiner's report who used historians quotes as evidence rather than utilising actual evidence, because that's all I remembered. >.>

And I probably dropped a lot of marks for the 10 mark questions for France as well, since I got pretty stumped by the food/living one. I'm glad I did the essay first, otherwise I'd have been pretty discouraged to start off, by my inability to think of more than three feeble points, one of them being 'so like, there was a bad harvest...in 1788. I think. Not sure. And uh, they were pretty mad.'

Wish I had had more time with the essay. I actually have A people's tragedy by orlando figes - and I've had it since 2010. WHY DID I NEVER READ IT? WHY? WHY?

i did Section A France, Section B Russia.

france was soo good, especially the visual!
russia was pretty good, when i first saw the essay topic i was like "crap" but when i got to it at the end i was able to answer it pretty well. didn't pick that it was a Figes quote though.

i did a lot of analysis on why events happened, and what led to what, and what was significant, but i didn't have many dates. i hope it doesn't bring my mark down too much :S
