Okay, so WES is showing everything as fine...except I don't have one of the prerequisites for a unit.
Hopefully I don't get kicked out of it later on.

I think overloading requires you to have done 8 units in one year and generally isn't allowed for first years. Not sure how much they make exceptions.

I have a friend who convinced the science faculty to let him overload first semester, first year after enough begging and pleading - doesn't hurt to try, I guess?

Go to apply for diploma of arts (i want to do more arts units). Turns out its full and they closed June 15! June! Exams weren't even over then.

So now i either need to wait til next year or just give up on it. Even if i took it this year, it would still extend into next year so thats not the biggest issue i guess. Still dont want to wait though.. Also if for some reason i dont get in, i've delayed my entire degree for a year to do nothing. Tough call.

I wouldn't recommend taking units you dont have the prerequisites for. Sometimes they are a formality (arguably like 1st year philosophy being needed for second). Other times they are absolutely crucial to your success.

On a purely administrative basis, i doubt you will get kicked out. Usually if WES lets it through, you are generally alright to a degree.

I've never done it.
I think I'll be fine not doing it though, I've gone through a significant amount of the content in my own time earlier this year (I was thinking of overloading, so I wanted to reduce the stress and get a bunch of stuff done - but if this works out I won't have to).

A year is nothing in the long term. Seriously, I wish I'd realised this earlier. When you're 60 and you've been working for like 35 years are you really going to look back and lament that one extra year? Follow your interests.

Quick question, next semester I'm taking MTH2010 and MTH2032. Will their marks weigh double towards my GPA/WAM in comparison to the other first year subjects I'm doing? (Was really unsure about 2010 because it's part of an approved level one sequence)

Yes, the effect of second year units is twice compared to first year units...Also double check your enrollment to MTH2032 with the unit coordinator..The student services will get you into trouble when enrolling for the next year because  they say you can't take more than one second year unit in the first year, although you have completed the pre-reqs. they said to me I should've got a permission from the unit coordinator etc...Well, I've done 2 second units in the first year at the end and apparently I need to do my electives in the third year..Will see if I run into any trouble in my third year
