Clayton campus is so uninspiring.
If you're only looking at Menzies, I think I've found your problem. :P

Maybe I just don't much like the (social) uni environment in general, and I associate Clayton with that environment.

There's your problem. If you don't talk to or look at anyone, it becomes the anti-social campus.

I find the Clayton campus to be so uninspiring.

Actually, I take that back. On a beautiful day such as today, the Clayton campus really does thrive.

Always so hard to find new and good lab partners (my cohort did this subject last year, i didn't, so everyone is a stranger!). Plus strangers are scary yo.

I find the Clayton campus to be so uninspiring.

I haven't really seen many campuses (wandered around UoM once or twice) but i somewhat agree. It feels like it's been cobbled together in stages (which it has historically) rather than have some grand overarching plan.

That said, everything has beauty in it if you look. I think it does have it's charms, i particularly enjoy the areas more "off the beaten path", they seem to be more quite and nicer. It's making great strides as well, i've been here for 4 years now and i can say its definitely improved. Particularly the new large paths near S1, actual street signs now (like UoM) and the Menzies rennovations/informal study areas.

Maybe I just don't much like the (social) uni environment in general, and I associate Clayton with that environment.

If you're disappointed with how its going for you, try really putting yourself out there.  When i first started Monash i was disappointed about the social scene too, i felt like i met heaps of people (as you always do) but never bonded with any of them. I thought it was the uni, turns out it was me, i wasn't really trying. Join clubs, go to heaps of events, etc.

It seems the construction has gotten worse. Anyone figured out the most efficient way to get to hargs from the campus center? I went through engineering today, such a hassle though.

Through mechanical engineering building because it is warm inside :) luckily all of my lectures are at the right side of the campus

I swear I read it on AN somewhere, but it said eating on campus meant getting food poisoning at least once.

I should've trusted those wise words. :'(

You'd be safer eating off the floor of the microbiology labs than from Wholefoods, and let's not even discuss those dodgy eateries in Meeting Point...

Next time I'm hungry, I'll just walk into the bio labs, just take whatever they were going to dissect for lunch. :P

Depends in what you're interested in!

Monash often send out emails with volunteer/minor financial reward opportunities that they run such as the Ancora Imparo program etc. but of you really wanted to spice up your resume I'd recommend looking into some undergraduate research opportunities (these are definitely available for science/biomed etc students, but I'd imagine commerce, engineering and other faculties would have some stuff as well). The brilliant benefit that comes from this is that you get to network and make people in your preferred field aware of you.

Alternatively, you could try to be elected to the executive of a society at Monash; having a position such as that is valuable from both an organisational and resume standpoint.

There are definitely others (such as volunteering with groups such as the Red Cross etc), but that's what comes to mind right now :)
